Brightening the city

The Watertown Arts Festival presented a “Brighten Our City” chalk festival Thursday along the sidewalks of downtown Watertown. Various groups of people and individuals got out to color the city street and let their creativity shine. Residents were also encouraged to create chalk art in their driveways and around their homes. Artists of all ages were encouraged to participate in the free event. Photos of completed artwork were to be submitted to the Watertown Arts Council Facebook for a chance to win a chamber gift certificate. Gretchen Roost, 17, of Watertown, worked on drawing the planets being held by an astronaut on the sidewalk in front of the city’s walkway.
