Scouts place flags

For eight years, Jan Pickering has honored veterans and America five times a year by placing American Flags at the plaza on South Water Street. The American Flags were again placed in recognition of Veterans Day this year. At age 93, Pickering decided she needed help to continue this patriotic project and asked Boy Scout Troop 11 to help. Under her direction, the Boy Scouts continued the tradition of placing the flags. With Pickering in the foreground are Boy Scout Troop 11 scouts, from left, back row, Vincent Meyer and Aiden McCarthy; front row, Kenny Pettitt, Kieran McCarthy, Caden Tolliver, Brogan Schwegel and AJ Dishneau. Not pictured are Boy Scouts Braeden and Cole Nemitz, and Kyle Wolf. John Schloemer is the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 11.
