CLYMAN — Alex Marro scattered 10 hits to earn a complete-game decision as the Milton Raptors clinched the final playoff berth in the Rock River League’s Southern Division with a 7-4 victory over the Clyman Canners in the regular season finale at Stueber Field on Sunday.
Clyman (11-3) led 3-1 after two innings. Leadoff hitter Bryce Schuett, who finished with three hits and two doubles out, doubled to right, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Clint Rose and scored on Ryan Kaul’s sacrifice fly to tie the game at 1-1 in the first inning.
In the second inning, Nick Lenzendorf reached on an error, Josh Oswald doubled and Lenzendorf scored following an error on the play. Oswald scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-1.
Charles Davis started for Clyman and went four innings. The Raptors tied the game with two runs off Davis in the fourth, then took the lead for good with single runs in the fifth and sixth when Lenzendorf came on in relief. Clint Rose pitched the final three innings for the Canners.
Oswald cut Milton’s lead to 5-4 with a solo home run to right in the eighth inning, but McCauley Cox answered for the Raptors with a two-run homer to right in the ninth.
Marro struck out nine and retired the side in order to end it.
The Southern Division double elimination playoffs begin Saturday. Second-seeded Clyman hosts third-seeded Neosho while fourth-seeded Milton travels to face top-seeded Hustisford.
