LPS soccer blanks Wisconsin Lutheran, Milwaukee Lutheran

Luther Prep's boys soccer team toppled Wisconsin Lutheran in Wauwatosa 2-0 Friday before beating Milwaukee Lutheran 12-0 in Milwaukee Saturday.

Senior forward Isaias Santos scored an 8th-minute penalty-kick goal and sophomore midfielder Jesus Chavez-Alejandre scored his first varsity goal on an assist from senior midfielder Adam Brands in the 90th minute on Friday.

"Just like that, we are .500. Our guys have played tough through injuries and are learning how to play together," Luther Prep boys soccer coach Marty Pagel said of Friday's 2-0 win. "Now they are meshing and playing solid ball. It’s always good to get a road win against a quality team."

On Saturday, the Phoenix scored 11 first-half goals in a rout of Milwaukee Lutheran that moved the team's record to 3-2.

Sophomore midfielder Johannes Bourman, Brands and Santos each recorded hat tricks.

"We played great possession soccer which is just what we wanted," Pagel said. "We began the week 0-1 and we finished the week 3-2, winning our last three. Props to our guys for playing many minutes this week."

Luther Prep plays at Lakeside Lutheran in a Capitol Conference game Tuesday at 5 p.m.
