Sabercat men fall to Great Lakes 81-61 in NCCAA semis

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Senior guard David Lerma scored 21 points on four made 3-pointers but the eighth-seeded Maranatha Baptist University men’s basketball team fell 81-61 to fourth-seeded Great Lakes Christian College in an NCCAA Division 2 national semifinal game Friday.

Freshman forward Tyree Bruno scored 12 points off the bench and senior forward Rob Sonnenberg and sophomore forward Stephen Wilkerson each had seven for the Sabercats (16-10).

Maranatha trailed 40-28 at halftime and the Sabercats made seven 3-pointers while the Crusaders shot 15-of-30 from beyond the arc.
