Pitcher Jordyn Pipkin selected as Trailways South POY

Johnson Creek junior Jordyn Pipkin was voted the Player of the Year in Trailways South all-conference softball voting held recently.

Junior pitcher Jordyn Pipkin was named the Trailways South Player of the Year in all-conference softball voting held recently.

Pipkin was one of five players recognized from the Bluejays, who won the Trailways South in their first year in the newly formed league.

Also making the first team were senior shortstop Rylie Thomas, sophomore outfielder Bella Herman and junior outfielder Brooke Joseph. Freshman infielder Alexis Swanson made the second team.

Pipkin posted a 4-1 record with an earned run average of 1.40, having allowed 21 earned runs on 67 hits with 141 strikeouts and 27 walks over 105 1/3 innings. At the plate, Pipkin led the league in batting average (.484) and home runs (5). She had 31 hits, scored 30 runs and finished with 29 RBIs.

Joseph led the league in hits with 36 and stolen bases with 22. She batted .434 and scored 31 runs.

Thomas led the league in doubles with 11, led the team in RBIS with 31 and had 33 hits.

Herman led the team and was second in the league in runs scored with 33. She also led the league in walks with 21. She batted .352 and added 25 hits.

Swanson had 30 hits and was second in the league in doubles with nine. She batted .385.

Johnson Creek won the Trailways South with a 7-1 record, followed by Parkview at 6-2, Deerfield at 5-3, Palmrya-Eagle at 2-6 and Williams Bay at 0-8.
