Kelsey Johnson reaches 1,000 points as Sabercat women top Randall

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Junior forward Kelsey Johnson tied a career high with 27 points and went over 1,000 points for her career as the fourth-seeded Maranatha Baptist University women’s basketball team beat third-seeded Randall University 89-44 in the NCCAA Division 2 national tournament third-place game Saturday.

Freshman point guard Callie Morrison and sophomore guard Trisha Wright each finished with 20 points.

The Sabercats shot 60 percent from the floor, the second-best mark in program history, and outrebounded Randall (20-10) 40-29.

Maranatha won 14 of its last 15 games to finish the season with a record of 19-7.
