LEBANON — Andrew Mueller threw a no-hit shutout while Tanner Galeazzi hit a grand slam as the Hustisford Astros remained in first place in the Rock River League Southern Division with a 14-0 win over the Lebanon Whitetails on Sunday at Legends Field.
Hustisford (5-0 RRL) cranked out 13 hits and feasted on seven errors by Lebanon (2-3). An eight-run rally capped by Galeazzi’s grand slam to right center in the seventh closed out the scoring.
Mueller struck out seven and walked one. He retired 10 of the first 11 batters he faced.
Cameron Schuett reached all three times he batted Lebanon.
Schuett reached on an error in the first inning but was left stranded. Schuett was hit by a pitch in the fourth, but was thrown out at the plate for the final out of the inning. He drew Mueller’s only walk of the game in the seventh but was left stranded again.
Matt Sabel took the loss, though five of the six runs he allowed were unearned due to the rash of errors. He gave up six hits with six strikeouts and one walk over four innings. Schuett finished up in relief, allowing eight earned runs on seven hits with one strikeout and one walk.
Derek Merkes led Husty with three hits. Galeazzi had two hits and scored four runs. Jamie Kaul and Casey Simon each added two hits for the Astros, who host Neosho on Friday night. Lebanon plays at Farmington on Saturday at noon.
