Falcons rout Wayland again

HUSTISFORD — Rebounding was a point of emphasis on Friday night.

Four days after dominating the scoreboard against Wayland Academy, Hustisford’s girls basketball team made sure to dominate the glass as well in the rematch.

Five Falcons combined for 41 rebounds in Husty’s 70-32 Trailways East win over Wayland.

“The last time we played them, they got a lot more rebounds than tonight,” Hustisford girls basketball coach Jason Hildebrandt said. “We worked on that a little.”

Sophomore guard Rylie Collien scored 17 points and added seven rebounds, four steals and three assists for Hustisford (11-8, 6-5 in conference). Senior center Alisha Peplinski added eight points, 12 rebounds and three assists. Senior forward Sam Peplinski had five points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Sophomore guard/forward Kelsey Ewert added nine points and six rebounds. Junior guard Tristan Bischoff had four points and six rebounds.

“Everybody scored that played,” Hildebrandt said. “We’ve been waiting for a game like that.”

Sophomore forward Adrianne Bader scored 14 points and sophomore guard Miranda Firari added 12 for Dodgeland (8-11, 4-7 in conference).

EVANSVILLE — Rachel Tofte and Paige Banks each made three 3-pointers for the Evansville Blue Devils as they earned a 49-27 victory against visiting Jefferson in a Rock Valley girls basketball game on Friday.

Tofte scored 16 points and Banks finished with 15 for the Blue Devils (16-4, 15-1 RVC), which remain in first place in the league.

Junior Ainsley Howard scored 11 points to lead Jefferson (9-10, 8-8). The Eagles moved into seventh place in the RVC with the loss.

PALMYRA — Ally Czeschinski scored 16 points to lead Palmyra-Eagle in a 39-24 victory over Johnson Creek in a Trailways South girls basketball game on Friday night.

Ally Fredrick made two 3-pointers and added 12 points to the Palmyra-Eagle cause. The Panthers made three 3-pointers and Johnson Creek didn’t make any long balls.

Johnson Creek’s next game will be a WIAA Division 4 road playoff game against fifth-seeded Horicon on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.
