Lodi defeats Lakeside to remain unbeaten in Capitol North

LODI — Lodi remained unbeaten in Capitol Conference North Division play with a 25-18, 25-20, 14-25, 25-21 victory over visiting Lakeside Lutheran Tuesday.

Lodi improved to 8-0 in conference with two matches remaining.

“It was frustrating,” Lakeside Lutheran coach Jenny Krauklis said. “Lodi is a very good team. If you’re going to beat them you have to play your absolute best and that is not where we were tonight. We really struggled with serve receive. We couldn’t get a pass to the setter and that sets back our whole offense.”

Sophomore Sam Anthon led the Warriors (20-14, 5-3) with 15 kills while sophomore Moriah Hackbarth added 10 kills in the loss. Senior Vicki Janikowski had 29 assists, senior Laine Luisier had 23 digs and two aces while junior Keri Bachler had 18 digs and junior Kristin Tetzlaff had four and a half blocks.

The Warriors play in the Waukesha North Invitational Saturday.

ALCS 3,  Dodgeland 2

JUNEAU — Abundant Life/ Madison Country Day School defeated Dodgeland’s volleyball team 25-21, 21-25, 25-19, 14-25, 15-11 in a Southern Trailways match Tuesday.

Yasmeen Housenga had eight kills while Hannah Spern and Karissa Fehling each had six for Dodgeland (3-18, 1-7 in conference).

Housenga also had 18 assists, three blocks and two aces. Meredith Skinner added four aces. Kyrsten Freber had 26 digs. Sarh Schliesman had 23 digs. Olivia Steinke added 16 assists.

Dodgeland hosts the conference tournament on Saturday.

Waterloo 3, Belleville 0

WATERLOO — Waterloo dominated its Capitol Conference South Division match with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-11 victory over visiting Belleville Tuesday.

Sophomore Hailey Chittenden had a nice night for the Pirates, finishing with 15 assists and two aces. Freshman Maddeline Mosher led Waterloo with 11 kills, while junior Taylor Sand and sophomore Kaia Dorn each had eight digs. Senior Brennan Kurkowski had two blocks, sophomore Jenny Kling had eight kills and senior Emma Lincks finished with eight assists in a balanced night for Waterloo.

The Pirates (19-16 overall) play in the Reedsburg Tournament Saturday.

Lake Mills 3, Poynette 0

LAKE MILLS — Lake Mills junior Kayleigh Topel had 13 kills as the L-Cats defeated visiting Poynette 29-27, 25-16, 25-17 in a Capitol Conference North Division match Tuesday.

Senior Emily Mickelson had 19 assists as the L-Cats improved to 27-6 overall and 6-2 in Cap. North play. Junior Brittany Keach had 17 digs, senior Katelyn Primmer had five aces and junior Carley Schmitt had three blocks.

The L-Cats host Columbus Tuesday.

McFarland 3, Jefferson 0

MCFARLAND — The Jefferson volleyball team missed a chance to get back to .500 in Rock Valley Conference play, falling at McFarland 25-20, 25-21, 25-14 Tuesday.

Sophomore Rose Kubicek put up 20 assists to lead the Eagles. Sophomore Brittney Fritz led Jefferson with six kills, sophomore Brianna Froehlich added 14 digs, senior Brooke Linse had two aces and senior Megan Linse finished with two blocks.

The Eagles (10-6 overall, 3-5 RVC North) host Evansville Thursday.

Johnson Creek 3, Horicon 0

JOHNSON CREEK — Morgan Miller had 11 kills for Johnson Creek’s volleyball team in a 25-16, 25-13, 25-18 Southern Trailways win over Horicon Tuesday.

Olivia Heckel put up 18 assists, Anna Graffin served four aces and Natilee Wolf had 11 digs for the Bluejays (8-14, 6-3 in conference).

“I felt we did a nice job, especially in the second game, of pushing good passes and our offense was really clicking,” Johnson Creek volleyball coach Megan Rojemann said.

Johnson Creek plays in the Trailways Conference tournament at Dodgeland High School on Saturday.
