Watertown’s boys soccer team closed out the regular season with a 1-1 tie against DeForest on Senior Night Thursday at Landsverk Field.

The Goslings trailed 1-0 at halftime, but pulled even on senior Jens Madsen’s goal at the 68-minute mark.

“The guys did a great job recovering from the first goal and evening the score,” Watertown boys soccer coach Josh Kerr said. “We played well against a tough opponent. Overall, I was happy with the performance. We didn’t get the result we were quite looking for, but we are in a really good spot to prepare for our regional game.”

Seventh-seeded Watertown (10-7-3) hosts 10th-seeded Madison East in a WIAA Division 1 regional opener Tuesday at 7 p.m.

JV wins: Watertown’s junior varsity team ended its season with a 2-0 victory over DeForest.

Sophomore Bradley Fischer opened the score with a breakaway shot, putting the ball into the left lower part of the goal. Sophomore Mohamed Hadi finished a shot into the net for the second goal of the match.

The JV Goslings finished the season at 11-3-1 and 6-1 in conference.

“The guys worked hard from the beginning of the season to the end,” Watertown JV boys soccer coach Sam Galaviz said. “I am very proud of every one of my players and the great support and hard work from coach Nathan Wangerin.”
