BEAVER DAM — Lupe Alvizo scored two goals including the game-winner in overtime as Beaver Dam’s boys soccer team beat Watertown 3-2 in a Wisconsin Little Ten Conference match on Tuesday.
Watertown (10-7-2, 3-3-1 in conference) led 1-0 at halftime on Sam Piasecki’s goal at the 25-minute mark. The Goslings took a two goal lead when Jens Madsen scored at the 49-minute mark.
Beaver Dam (11-6-3, 3-4) got on the board at 61 minutes on a goal from Chris Gassen at 61 minutes. Alvizo tied the match six minutes later, then scored the game-winner two minutes into overtime.
“Tonight was another tough conference match that ended in a 3-2 overtime loss,” Watertown boys soccer coach Josh Kerr said. “It is always painful to lose the close ones, but we need to learn from it and move on.”
Watertown hosts DeForest in a nonconference match on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
JV wins: Watertown’s junior varsity soccer team scored two second half goals to beat Beaver Dam 2-0.
Freshman Collin Travis opened the scoring in 55 minute, who was assisted by freshman Andrew Marr. The Goslings added their second goal by freshman Joseph Fisk converting off a pass from sophomore Dylan Kasten.
Freshman goalkeeper Austin Frommgen made five excellent saves.
“He keeps improving every day,” Watertown JV boys soccer coach Sam Galaviz said. “I am very proud to have a young keeper in our program. Defenders Alex Schmidt, Taylor Foltz, Michael Arnold and Nate Logan held very tough. I am very proud of the team effort.”
The JV Goslings finished 6-1-0 in conference, good for second place in the final league standings. They close out the season against DeForest on Thursday.
