National Philanthropy Day

Dear Editor:

I love talking with the elderly because their stories are rich with lessons experienced through the lens of perspective. Younger generations can learn a lot from their wisdom as we have a tendency to dwell on the particular situations that are happening right now instead of seeing our lives as a whole. Seniors have the ability to look back on a long life and have the perspective to distinguish what really matters, helping others.

Nov. 12 is National Philanthropy Day, I hope you learn from our elders and reflect on the lessons of the past. It is my prayer that you use that wisdom to be thoughtful about how giving charitably, to an organization that aligns with your value system, can impact others and contribute to your personal legacy.

Leave a mark on the world and bless someone with your generosity. You will never regret it.
