Shop local

Dear Editor:

Are you invested in the town or village in which you reside? Are you loyal to your local merchants? I have no doubt that if you look around your town/village you will observe many vacant store fronts. Why are they vacant, well that’s a rhetorical question as obviously the answer is because the previous business couldn’t survive. Have you patronized your local merchant this year, even once? Oh, how many times I have heard people complain when a business closed.

Just think about the taxes, utility bills and rent your local business owner pays just to keep the doors open for you. Well with Christmas just a few weeks away now would be a great time to patronize the business in your town/village. I’m sure you could find a gift for a family member, a friend or for that matter a gift exchange or Christmas party.

What about a gift certificate, if the business doesn’t have any gift certificates made up, they would gladly write one out for you? How about a gift certificate from your local restaurant or ice cream shop? A gift certificate for a breakfast, lunch or even a pizza would be very much appreciated.

So, get out, shop at your local business, and purchase your ideal Christmas gifts. It’s a win/win situation your helping your businesses while at the same time you will be making your gift recipient happy. You also will truly feel the Christmas spirit in the process, make that a win/win/win situation.
