February 5, 1936 - September 23, 2019
Watertown -- Russell P. Craig, Jr., 83, of Watertown, WI went to meet with the Lord on Monday, September 23, 2019 at his home. Russ was born on February 5, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois. He is the son of Russell P. Craig, Sr. and Eva Viola Stephens Craig. Russ was a hard worker that wore many different hats. He was a strong, kind companion, step-father, grandfather and great-grandfather and friend with an incredible sense of humor and knack for joyful silliness. He had many interests he was passionate about including but not limited to fishing and enjoying outdoor activities in a country setting. He had a strong pension for highly intelligent conversations about in-depth documentaries, Quantum Physics, space travel and Stephen Hawking being just a few of his favorites. Route 66 held a special place in his heart because as a young teenager he hitch-hiked from the beginning of Route 66 to the end. Photography was a huge passion of his, proven by the hundreds of photographs found in his home. Many hats for a complicated man.
Russ leaves his multi-decade sweetheart, Betty Witkofsky; her children, (Russ's children by heart) Jim (Margarita) Brady of River Grove, IL, Tom (Merrietta) Brady of Watertown, WI, Terry (Philomena) Brady of Chicago, IL, Donna (Stanley) Kasper of Chicago, IL and Clifford Witkofsky of Chicago, IL; his brother, Steve Craig of Lockport, IL along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clarence and Donald and one sister, Maxine.
A Celebration of Russ's life will be held on October 12, 2019 at River City Church in Watertown, WI. Memorials, if desired, would be appreciated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
