Charles A. (Chuck) Zuhlke

Watertown -- Charles A. (Chuck) Zuhlke, 87, of Watertown, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown. Charles Albert Zuhlke was born on May 11, 1932 in Waukesha, the son of Albert and Marie (nee VanBuren) Zuhlke. On April 27, 1957 he married Mary Lou Struck at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Chuck and Mary Lou started their married life in Wales, Wisconsin from 1957 to 1959 and then moved to Waukesha where they purchased their first home and resided there until 1984. They then moved to the Village of Eagle and lived there until 1997. Upon leaving Eagle, Bella Vista, AR was their next home for almost 20 years before finally landing in Watertown in 2016. Chuck was employed as a machinist at Waukesha Engine for over 40 years. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Watertown and in previous congregations at Ascension Lutheran Church in Waukesha, St. John's Lutheran church in North Prairie and at Bella Vista Lutheran Church in Bella Vista, AR. Chuck was an avid reader and volunteer, volunteering with Helping Hands in Bella Vista, AR and at Twice as Nice in Jefferson. Woodworking was his passion but he also enjoyed gardening and tackling home improvement projects. He loved traveling with his family on camping trips throughout the U.S. and in retirement he and Mary Lou continued to travel.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou Zuhlke of Watertown; sons, David (Jane McKie) Zuhlke of Egg Harbor and James (Dana) Zuhlke of State College, PA; grandchildren: Emma (Rowan Weller) Zuhlke, Diana (Allan Bobb) Zuhlke, Julia (Stephen) Dumbeck and Sarah Zuhlke; step-great-grandchild, Viktor Dumbeck; brothers, Duane (Gloria) Zuhlke of Portage and Donald (Barbara) Zuhlke of Osseo as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Daniel Zuhlke.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Seth Hoeppner officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church and School, Heritage Homes or Marquardt Health Center.
