WATERLOO -- Fred W. Huebner, 87, of Waterloo, passed away peacefully at his beloved Stoney Brook farm with his family by his side.
His positive attitude and inner strength could not overcome his battle with cancer.
Fred was born on April 17, 1932, in Milford, the son of Walter and Sylvia (Heller) Huebner. In 1957 he married Jeanette Barman. Together they built a life of working the land they loved and tending to their animals. Fred had a great love for fishing, golf, bowling, playing cards and the many years of traveling out west to see his children and grandchildren. Fred's life is well represented in the old song, "The Great American Farmer" by Ralph Harrison. Please take time to view the short video online.
Fred is survived by his three children and six grandchildren: Bonnie (Rick) Holden of Herndon, Virginia, Dennis (Heather) Huebner of Gilroy, California, and Tom Huebner of Palm Desert, California; his sisters Jean MacFarland of Reedsburg and Norma Shambow of Denver, Colorado.
He is preceded in death by his wife Jeanette, brother Edward Huebner, and sisters, Carol Meyer, Janet Meyer and Marie Huebner.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Holy Family Parish-Waterloo campus with Father Jorge Miramontes presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery immediately following the service.
Memorials in Fred's honor to Holy Family Parish-Waterloo or Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson would be appreciated.
