Irene G. Magritz was born on Jan. 14, 1928, to Reinhold and Ella (nee Knop) Magritz in Antigo. Irene married her first husband, Lawrence Kreuser, in 1946. They farmed in Brookfield before moving to Lebanon in 1960. Farming was a very important part of Irene's life. They had two daughters, Lois (Charles) Wertschnig, Sharon (Michael) Miller. Larry passed in May 1969. Irene married Albert Kasmiskie in June 1972 in Kiowa, Colorado. Irene loved gardening, cooking, baking and bingo. She also enjoyed making homemade soaps. If it was Wednesday, we knew where Albert and Irene were -- bingo night at Watertown's VFW Post 3709. Albert was commander many times through the years, having been a VFW member for 70 years and was a Cootie auxiliary member. Irene was auxiliary commander and Buddy Poppy chairman, and enjoyed the friendships she made at the VFW. Together Albert and Irene were a team.

Irene is survived by her children, Lois (Charles) Werschnig, Sharon (Michael) Miller; five grandchildren, Lisa Solesky, Teresa Roberts, Kari (Harvey) Klug, Kevin (Jessica) Miller, Kristin (Mel) Stanley; seven great-grandchildren, Mitchell Solesky, Gabrielle Solesky, Olivia Miller, Feona Miller, Rosemary Stanley, Juliette Stanley, Madison Stanley; sisters, Shirley Baumann, Merla Stark. Kas and Irene's pride and joy was their dog, Abby.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert Kasmiskie and Larry Kreuser; two sisters, June Altweis and Roma Pieper; five brothers-in-law, Donald Baumann, Harvey Frank, Walter Stark, Clifford (June) Altweis and Art Pieper.

The best memory of our mom, grandma, and great-grandma was her sense of humor. We could always make her laugh -- even during her last days.

The family would like to thank Irene's hospice nurse, Megan, for calling us with updates on mom's health. All the nursing staff on the 500 wing gave Irene excellent care and attention.
