Watertown -- Beverly A. Spangler, 87, of Watertown, passed away on October 7, 2019 at Watertown Regional Medical Center. Bev was born October 3, 1932, in Greenwood, WI, the daughter of Viv and Mary (nee Richmond) Carteron. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School. She moved to Waukesha, where she worked for Waukesha Motor Co., then moved to Oconomowoc to work for the U.S. Treasury Department, until her marriage in 1957. Bev was married to Cy Spangler on November 23, 1957. They had two daughters, Denise and Donna. After their two daughters were out of high school, she worked for the Eaton Corporation in Watertown, until her retirement in 1992. Bev enjoyed being with and helping people, organizing many reunions of family and friends. She loved keeping up the family history booklets. In her early years, she helped in PTA, Girl Scouts, and FISH organizations. She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Watertown where she served on various committees, including assisting with counting money and Meals on Wheels. Bev enjoyed cooking and collecting recipes. She loved the many get-togethers she had with friends. Bev and Cy enjoyed going on many vacations in the United States.
She is survived by her husband, Cy Spangler of Watertown; two daughters, Denise Spangler of Madison and Donna Spangler (Jim Champagne) of Mazomanie; sister, Lorraine Dittmar; sister-in-law, MaryAnn (Dennis) Langbecker; brother-in law, Jim (Phyllis) Spangler as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: V.R. and Mary Carteron, parents-in-law: Roman and Marie Spangler as well as brothers-in-law: Paul (Diane) Spangler, Jerry Spangler and Jerome Spangler.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Watertown with Rev. Jeffrey Meyer officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church from 12 o'clock noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the University of Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Center in Madison.
