Walter 'Wally' W. Kopfer

Walter "Wally" W. Kopfer, 76, of Watertown, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019, at Park Ridge Assisted Living in Watertown.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Karl Walther officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to the St. Mark's Lutheran church or Lakeside Lutheran School. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Walter William Kopfer was born on Oct. 24, 1942, to William and Della (nee Rohloff) Kopfer in Watertown. Wally was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lebanon Lutheran Church. He attended Immanuel Lutheran Grade School in Lebanon and graduated from Watertown High School in 1960. On Sept. 28, 1968, Walter married the former June Fredrick at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc. Wally worked all his life on the family 159 Century farm. He enjoyed playing baseball, dartball and bowling and also watching the Brewers, Bucks and Packers. Walter liked spending time with his family and friends, especially watching his grandkids play sports. He was the president of the Rock Cheese Factory, honorary member and volunteered at Turner Hall, and was the director of Universal Co-op for a number of years. Wally will be remembered as a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, June Kopfer of Watertown; children, Alan (Bre Larsen) Kopfer of Watertown, James (Heather) Kopfer of Columbus, Thomas Kopfer of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Luke (Kelsey) Kopfer of Stevens Point, Logan Kopfer of Watertown, Dayne Kopfer of Columbus, and Audra Kopfer of Columbus; sibling, Darlene Lemberger of Watertown; brother-in-law, Robert (Lorelei) Fredrick; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; and brother-in-law, George Lemberger.
