Pipersville -- Herman L. Zastrow, 85 of Pipersville, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at Marquardt Health Center. Herman Louis Zastrow was born September 29, 1934 in Pipersville, WI, son of Herman C. and Hilda (nee Timmel) Zastrow. He graduated in 1952 from Watertown High School. Herman purchased the farm from his mother. On August 28, 1954 he married Patricia Krueger at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown. After farming for many years he obtained his real estate broker license and began Zastrow Realty in 1967, specializing in farm sales. Herman served on the Board of Directors at Ixonia State Bank from 1984 - 2006. He also served as a Director and Treasurer of the Ixonia Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery Association and was a member of the Wethonkitha Club. Herman also served on various boards and committees at Trinity Lutheran Church throughout the years. Herman and Pat enjoyed many years at their cabin in Presque Isle. Herman was an avid fisherman and hunter. Most of all, he was a man who loved spending time with his family.
Herman is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia Zastrow; sons, Dale (Nancy), David (Sharon) and Daniel all of Watertown; grandchildren: Michelle (Joshua) Wegner, Matthew (Elissa) Zastrow, Melissa (Jim) Thoma, Jennifer (Nathan) Schmeling, Eric (Robin) Zastrow, Tyler Zastrow, Kyle (Katy) Zastrow and Nathanael Zastrow; 15 great grand-children: Lincoln and Brooklyn Wegner, Britin and Braeden Zastrow, Brett and Hailey Thoma, Blake, Raina, Ryker, Kyla and Baby K Schmeling, Bently and Chloe Zastrow, Zachary and Emily Zastrow; sisters Doris Baumann and Violet Wade of Watertown; as well as niece; nephews and other relatives and friends. Herman is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Corrin Zastrow; brothers-in-law Harold Schultz, Dan Baumann and Jim Wade and nephew Steven Schultz.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 6th at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Brett Brauer and Rev. Dustin Yahnke officiating. Family and friends may gather at Hafemeister Funeral Home on Thursday, December 5th from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Ixonia Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Hustisford Road. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the charity of one's choice.
