Jeremiah Maxfield

Jeremiah Maxfield of Watertown was the male recipient of the 2018-19 American Legion Citizenship Award at Howard College's annual award convocation in Big Spring, Texas.

The award is presented to individuals exhibiting outstanding leadership, character and citizenship qualities. Recipients can be a freshman or sophomore and selection is based on popular vote by the faculty, staff and administration. Winners are presented with a plaque, a $250 scholarship and their names are placed on a plaque in the student union building.

Maxfield is a U.S. veteran, having served three tours of duty in the U.S. Army. He has played in the college's Hawk baseball program and has earned a scholarship to Southeastern University in Florida, where he will continue his baseball career.

Maxfield was also recognized at the convocation as a member of the dean's list.
