The Watertown High School chapter of the National German Honor Society offers a monthly “Stammtisch” for German speakers of all ages and abilities. “Stammtisch” traditionally is a reserved table at a local establishment where a group of people meet on a regular basis, usually weekly but sometimes daily. The term is used to describe the honor society’s monthly meeting at various local establishments where they speak German in a casual and relaxed setting. January’s Stammtisch was held at Maria’s Tacqueria and was trilingual, thanks to native Spanish speakers who are learning German. German students were from left, Nicole van Zanten, Ashley Campbell, Maria Cardenas Ruiz, special guest Yoshi Bravo, Ivett Zaragoza, Izak Jensen and Ryan Mitchell. February’s Stammtisch was held at Two Sisters. Contact German teacher Kim Schneider at for more information.
