Harnischfeger County Park will host its annual FallFest fundraising event from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 28. Parking and entry to the event are free. Individuals are encouraged to mark their calendars to visit Harnischfeger County Park and FallFest.
The day starts with a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Concessions will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The bake sale will start at 8 a.m. while supplies last.
There will be free tractor pulled wagon rides which will shuttle starting at 9 a.m. The rides will take people through the 132-acre park. Another wagon will depart in 15- to 20-minute intervals.
FallFest has something for everyone, including vintage farm equipment displays and demonstrations, dog weight pull competition, free activities and demonstrations for the kids to enjoy, chainsaw and blacksmithing art demonstrations, farm fall produce and craft sales and outdoor live entertainment by Tale Spin (weather permitting). In the clubhouse, the silent auction and bucket raffles will be held throughout the day. Families can pick up direction sheets and hike through the park and do the treasure hunt. There is playground equipment for the kids, hiking trails and an 800-foot boardwalk to the river.
Planned events are subject to change depending on the weather. There is an all-volunteer staff who will do their best to make an individual's visit to the park an enjoyable one.
FallFest is the only fundraiser for Harnischfeger County Park. Some activities require a small fee. Some accept freewill donations, and many of the activities are free, making the day family affordable. This event is put on by the Friends of Harnischfeger Park; a Committee of the Friends of Dodge County Parks, Inc. One hundred percent of the profits of this event will go directly to improvements to Harnischfeger County Park.
