A nonbinding advisory referendum regarding naming the town square has been withheld from this ballot for this upcoming election until the 2020 spring election.

"It was due to my office missing the deadline with the county clerk to get that on the ballot," said city Clerk/Treasurer Elissa Meltesen.

A resolution will be presented to the Watertown Common Council on Tuesday, March 19 to place the names on next year's ballot.

Meltesen said they gave the Watertown Redevelopment Authority the option to pass out a survey with name options to people as they exit the polls but the board decided to postpone it.

The list of names for the town square are Generations Landing, Times Square, Times Terrace, Main Street Square, River Central, Rock River Green, The Quarter at Towne Center and River City Commons.

Good idea since the people weren't given an opportunity to vote on if this was needed or not to begin with.
