Chris Ruetten, 41, 20 Park View Lane in Watertown, is a candidate for 3rd District alderman. He is seeking the position currently held by Ken Berg who is not eligible to run for re-election in 2019.
Ruetten has lived in Watertown with his wife and five children for 13 years.
"Representative government has always interested me," Ruetten said. "I would love to have the opportunity to represent my friends and neighbors of the 3rd District."
Ruetten said he has been a professional land surveyor for civil engineering companies for the last 17 years and believes he can assist the city with development and infrastructure issues. He also said he has access to planning and funding resources that could benefit Watertown.
"I would like to see Watertown begin to grow again," Ruetten said. "In the last eight years, the city's growth has been flat. If we can bring more people to our city that will help with the city's tax base, and can help with the problem of declining enrollment in our schools. Increased enrollment will increase state funding of our public schools."
He said he wants to ensure that the businesses, parks and amenities in Watertown are maintained and can be used to attract more families to the community.
Ruetten can be reached via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
