Activities planned at ROC center

The Watertown Recreation and Outreach Center for Youth, 213 N. Third St., is for all teenagers in grades seven to 12 and offers a variety of activities and events.

The center is safe, free, fun, well-supervised and organized.

It allows for much free time when it is open in the afternoons some Tuesdays as well as Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Offers are pool, video/computer gaming and internet surfing using the supervised and protected computers, foosball, air hockey and board/card games.

Special events are also regularly held along with Bible/Talk Time being held each day that the center is open.

Experienced biblical counseling and in-depth Bible study are also available if desired.

Bread and Roses on hiatus

Bread and Roses meals served Thursday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church are closing until further notice due the the coronavirus pandemic.

Pantry open hours

The Personal Essentials Pantry, sponsored by Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, is open Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. It is located down the hall from the food pantry in the basement of the church, 204 N. 10th St. Among the items PEP distributes to those in need are: laundry and dish soap, tissues, toilet paper, deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste and brushes, as well as feminine products. Monetary or donations of these items are always accepted in the church office.

MILWAUKEE — Several area students have received academic honors from Milwaukee School of Engineering for the 2020 Winter Quarter.

OSHKOSH — University of Wisconsin Oshkosh students received diplomas in December during the university’s 55th midyear commencement.

Sigma Alpha Lambda has announced Braeden Christian of Watertown has become recognized as a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda.

MADISON — More than 1,770 students received degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison during the winter commencement ceremony on Dec. 15, 2019. About 1,200 graduates took part.

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire awarded 670 degrees in December. Of the degrees awarded, 662 were received by students attending the Eau Claire campus and eight were received by students attending UW-Eau Claire — Barron County.

MANKATO, Minn. — Jessica Milbrath of Jefferson has been named to the high honor list at Minnesota State University Mankato.

MEQUON – Concordia University Wisconsin officials have released the fall honors list for the 2019-2020 academic year. To be eligible for the honor, students must achieve a minimum 3.60 GPA.

MILWAUKEE — Several students from the area have been named to the Dean’s List at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for the fall 2019 semester. UWM is the second largest university in the State of Wisconsin, with approximately 25,000 students, both undergraduate and graduate.
