Furry friends camp

The Humane Society of Jefferson County held its annual Furry Friends Kids' Camp this week, educating area youngsters on the proper way to hold and care for a variety of animals. On Wednesday afternoon, June Otto of Jefferson, who fosters puppies and kittens to socialize them before they can be adopted, brought in a number of young puppies for the children to meet. The puppies were slated to be spayed and neutered the next day and be available for adoption next week. Reise Kopelke, 10, Jefferson, reacted in delight as a puppy licked her face, while classmate Hudson Leske, 7 1/2, reached out to pet the pup.
