JEFFERSON -- The state Legislature will be asked to add a fourth circuit court judge position in Jefferson County in 1995. The Jefferson County Board gave the go-ahead to the plan this morning at its regular monthly session The resolution, however, did not pass without substantial discussion and two dissenters. According to the resolution information, 14,000 cases are being filed in the circuit courts in the county on an annual basis.
The need for an additional judge was based on statistics gathered for the Director of State Courts J. Dennis Moran. The facts indicate that, based on the continuing increase in case filings per year, there will be a need for a fourth circuit court branch in Jefferson by 1995.
