The board of directors of Creative Community Living Services, Inc. has named the recipients of two annual awards, the Barbara Fox Memorial Award and Jon A. Nelson Award.
Kimberly Tabb is the recipient of the 2018 Barbara Fox Memorial Award. Currently the area director for CCLS, Tabb has been recognized as a disciplined leader with a positive work ethic and demonstrates a commitment to the philosophy and mission of CCLS as she leads by example.
"Kim's No. 1 priority in her leadership role is to ensure the clients receive quality care and service," her nomination stated. "She believes in person-centered care for our clients and empowers them to play an active role in planning their care."
The Barbara Fox Memorial Award was established in memory of longtime CCLS president Barbara Fox. The award is granted annually to a CCLS employee who exemplifies leadership characteristics while enhancing the dignity of people with disabilities as they seek their own level of independence.
This year's Jon A. Nelson Award was presented to Jael Berlik, a supported living worker in CCLS' Eastern Metro region. According to her supervisor, "Jael has a gentle but firm approach when working with people, so they can get things done."
In the award nomination paper, Berlik is recognized as a creative, artistic person who uses those abilities in her work to help some of the people she works with. Her nomination also stated that she is a team player and is liked by her co-workers.
The Jon A. Nelson Award honors Jon Nelson, one of the four founders of CCLS. Nelson always believed the backbone of the company was the direct line staff. When presenting the award, the board of directors considers qualities such as interactions with clients, positive representation of CCLS and willingness to go above and beyond.
The board established these two awards as a means of recognizing employees who embody the spirit of the CCLS mission, vision and philosophy.
