OSHKOSH - Ten different players scored in the first half as Watertown's girls basketball team built a commanding lead early and rolled to a 50-27 nonconference win over Oshkosh North Friday.
Junior point guard Erienne Lauersdorf scored all 12 of her points in the first half as Watertown (1-0) opened up a 32-10 lead by halftime. Junior guard Lauren Harris scored nine of her 12 points in the second half to keep the Goslings well out in front.
Junior guard-forward Leanna Lillge added eight points.
“The running game got everything started pretty quick,” Watertown girls basketball coach Todd Hoffman said. “We were able to force them into multiple turnovers that led to some easy scores. Leanna does what Leanna does best. She got to the free throw line by attacking the hoop. That gave us a chance in the second half to look at some players and get some kids some experience. It was a nice way to start the first game of the season.”
Watertown hosts Kettle Moraine on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
JV, freshmen win: Watertown's junior varsity won 30-22. Watertown's freshman team won 55-28.
