Petronilla "Pat" Kalscheur

Petronilla “Pat” Kalscheur, 98, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at Golden Living Continental manor in Randolph.

Visitation for Pat will be at Holy Family Catholic Church in Reeseville on Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Monday, at noon. Rev. Jerome Rinzel will officiate. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Lowell.

The former Petronilla Adaline was born on July 23, 1910, in the Town of Bristol, Dane County, to the late Peter and Margret (Weisensel) Batz.

On July 23, 1935, she was united in marriage with Edward Kalscheur in East Bristol. Pat farmed with her husband on farms near Sun Prairie, Columbus and Reeseville until they retired in late 1962.

When Reeseville celebrated its 150th anniversary, she was honored as the village's oldest living female. Pat was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Reeseville where she had been active in the Alter Society and the choir.

Survivors include her son, Dennis (Barb) Kalscheur of Madison; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Kalscheur of Reeseville; eight grandchildren, Julie (Brent) Lords of Lake Mills, Mary (Pat) Waitkus of Sheboygan Falls, Joni (Chris) Brackman of Delafield, Ken Kalscheur of Brookings, S.D., Debbie Kalscheur of Denver, Colo., Dan Kalscheur, Rob Kalscheur and J.J. Kalscheur, all of Minneapolis, Minn.; five great-grandchildren, Heather and Krista Brackman, Charlie and Katie Waitkus, and Tristan Lords; four sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Pearl Batz of East Bristol, Joe (Katie) Kalscheur of Sun Prairie, Mary Hollfelder of Oregon, Sr. Bernie Kalscheur of Campbellsport and Florence Krantz of Madison; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; a daughter, Lorraine; three sons, Edward Jr., LaVerne, and Ralph; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

The family suggests that memorials be made in Petronilla A. Kalscheur's name to Hillside Hospice in Beaver Dam.

Joyce Lemke

Joyce M. Lemke, 62, of Watertown, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 13, 2008, at her home after a 20-year courageous battle with multiple sclerosis.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Farmington with the Rev. Richard Pagels officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Fort Atkinson.

Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

The former Joyce Marilyn Jaeger was born in Watertown on Dec. 24, 1945, daughter of Norman and Grace (Strege) Jaeger. On Dec. 12, 1965, she married Rodney Lemke at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Farmington.

Joyce was a 1963 graduate of Johnson Creek High School. She had been employed at the former ITT Thorp Finance in Watertown and at Ixonia State Bank. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Farmington.

Joyce loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved her cats.

Survivors include her husband, Rodney of Watertown; two children, Curt Lemke of Amhurst and Dawn Trucky of Green Bay; three grandchildren, Samantha Trucky, Jim Trucky and Jake Trucky; her sisters, Barbara Bostwick of Jefferson and Antoinette (Lee) Braatz of Lake Mills; her brother, Donald (Sherry) Jaeger of Lake Mills; a sister-in-law, Wendy Lemke of Watertown; a brother-in-law, Gary Lemke of Watertown; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; a sister in infancy, Sherrie Lee Jaeger; a son-in-law, Dave Trucky; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harold and Judith Lemke; a brother-in-law, Mike Bostwick; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Lemke.

Joann M. Hoene

FORT ATKINSON - Joann M. Hoene, 58, of Fort Atkinson, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008.

She was born on March 23, 1950, in Lafayette, La., daughter of Charles E. Hefner and Louise (Temple) Strand. She married Darrel Hoene on June 27, 2001, in Jefferson.

Joann was the owner of Lou's Riverview Bar in Jefferson. She was an avid gardener and loved to read.

Joann will be deeply missed by her husband, Darrel; a daughter, Tarrah Spooner of Jefferson; a grandson, Jackson Smith; a brother, Jake Hefner of Lafayette, La.; her father and stepmother, Charles (Marella) Hefner of Lafayette; her mother and stepfather, Louise (Dan) Strand of Jefferson; two stepdaughters, Traci Hoene of Jefferson and Cristine (Jamie) Schnitger of Helenville; two stepgrandchildren, Kassidy and Britany Schnitger; and nine stepbrothers and stepsisters.

A celebration of Joann's life will be held on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson.

Memorials may be given in Joann's memory to Tomorrow's Hope, Jefferson Rainbow Hospice, or the American Cancer Society.

Russell L. Keeser

LAKE MILLS - Russell L. Keeser, 72, of Lake Mills, died on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at Fort Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Feb. 18, 1936, in Farmington, son of the late Fred and Gwen (Schuenke) Keeser. He was a graduate of the Johnson Creek High School, class of 1953.

Russell married Carol Zielsdorf on Oct. 17, 1959, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Watertown. He was employed as a mason for many years.

Russell was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Johnson Creek and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3709 and Marine Corps League, both of Watertown.

He enjoyed fishing, traveling up north, watching his grandsons play football and spending time with his family.

Russell had a special love for the Marine Corps, having served from 1954 to 1957 in Japan and with the reserve Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960. He had attained the rank of sergeant.

Survivors include his wife, Carol of Lake Mills; their children, Chuck (Sherri) of Fort Atkinson, Linda (Dale) Schier of Jefferson and Kathy (Dave) Kaercher of Janesville; their grandchildren, Jacob and Ben Keeser, Rod, Candise and Jackie Schier, Jennifer Keeser and Nicole Lee; eight great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Joe (Nancy) Keeser, Mike (Debbie) Keeser, Jerry (Betty) Keeser, Danny (Ruth) Keeser and Carol Cartwright, all of Watertown, Wayne (Karen) Keeser and Faye (Leonard) Toebe, both of Johnson Creek; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Also preceding in death was a son, Frederick.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Johnson Creek with the Rev. Keith Johnson officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Johnson Creek.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. on Saturday at the church until the time of service.

Robert Lindemann

Robert L. Lindemann of Watertown passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 11, 2008, at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with the Rev. Anthony Schultz and the Rev. Mark Gartner of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Watertown officiating.

Family and friends may call to pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Robert Louis Lindemann was born in Watertown on May 4, 1921, son of Frank and Jesse (Boettcher) Lindemann. On Feb. 15, 1947, he married Helen Boltz at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown.

Robert served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was stationed in Guam.

He had been employed for 52 years in material management at Watertown Memorial Hospital. Robert was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. He loved hunting, fishing and auto racing.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Lindemann of Watertown; four children, Susan (Vaughn) Atkinson of Tennessee, Jean Scheele of Waterloo, Jane (Craig) Peil of Horicon and Randall (Cassandra) Lindemann of Watertown; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys (Lloyd) Frentzel of Jefferson; a brother-in-law, Otto Biefeld of Oconomowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Pearl Biefeld and Evelyn Haberkorn; and a brother, Clifford Lindemann.

Eugene R. Weis

JEFFERSON - Eugene R. “Gene” Weis, 73, of Jefferson, died on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at home.

He was born on June 17, 1935, in Berlin, son of the late Rudolph and Mildred (Bremer) Weis. Gene married Grace Stangler of Watertown on June 20, 1953, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown.

Gene was an operating engineer at Weis Excavating for 43 years and most recently worked part-time for the town of Aztalan.

Gene was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Mills and served on the maintenance commission for several years. He enjoyed farming, auctions and giving the grandchildren rides on the Gator.

Survivors include his wife, Grace; their children, Jolene (David) Ward and Sandra (Terry) Hein, both of Lake Mills, Catherine (Randy) Kuhl of Waterloo, Nancy (Rob) McMurry of Waukesha, Terri (Randy) Johnson of Muk-wonago, Thomas (Monica) Weis of Delafield, Jon (Suzanna) Weis of Waukesha and Mary Maida of Nashotah; a son-in-law, Roy Mitchell of Milwaukee; 23 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, George (Martha) Weis of Spring Hill, Fla.; one sister, Miriam Houk of Mukwonago; nieces, nep-hews, other relatives and friends.

Also preceding in death were four children, Denise “Dennie” Mitchell, Michael, Timothy and Anita; two brothers, Wally and Donald; and two sisters, Ruth Auchtung and Doris Merrill.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Mills with Father Robert Hughes as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Henry's Catholic Cemetery, Watertown.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Claussen Funeral Home in Lake Mills and after 10 a.m. on Friday at the church. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday.

JUNEAU - Arlene D. Kahrs, 72, of Juneau, formerly of Ashippun, passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at Clearview Long Term Health and Rehabilitation Center in Juneau.

Funeral services will be held Friday at Morse Funeral Home, 33 Railroad Ave, Middletown, N.Y. Burial will be in Wallkill Cemetery, Phillipsburg, N.Y.

A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Terry G. Larson officiating.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday, Nov. 22, at the church.

Arlene Dorothy Kahrs was born in New York, N.Y., on Dec. 21, 1935, daughter of Arthur and Theresa (Faucet) Seager. She married John H.G. Kahrs Sr. on June 25, 1960, in Mt. Vernon, N.Y.

Arlene was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, N.Y. She was a bus driver from 1979 until 1986 in Pine Bush, N.Y., before moving to Wisconsin.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Middletown, N.Y., and also of Immanuel Evangelical Luth-eran Church in Watertown. Arlene was involved with BPOE No. 2464, Rampo Valley Elks in Suffern, N.Y., and also was a member with the ladies auxiliary for the Spring Valley Fire Depart-ment and Circleville Fire Department.

Survivors include four children, Debbie (Tony) Kuhn of Middletown, N.Y., John (Annette) Kahrs Jr. of Bloomingburg, N.Y., Pam (Kevin) Voigt of Watertown and Wendy (Frank) DeGeorge of Highland Mills, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, and a daughter, Cheri Kahrs in infancy.

Gordon Paeske

JUNEAU - Gordon L. Paeske, 87, formerly of Watertown and currently residing at Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

Gordon L. Paeske was born on Jan. 5, 1921, in Watertown, son of Leonard and Anna Paeske. He was a high school graduate, an accountant for 16 years, a driver for Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown and an engraver for a monument company for 13 years.

Gordon was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Watertown, sang in the church choir and played in many community bands.

A memorial service for Gordon will be held on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church with Rev. Anthony Schultz and Rev. Mark Gartner officiating.

MENASHA - Robert Lee Grulke, 79, of Menasha, passed away on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.

Robert was born on Feb. 19, 1929, in Watertown, son of Emil and Charlotte (Andrews) Grulke.

Robert was a graduate of Watertown High School, Dodge County Normal and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He married Elaine Wentland in 1959.

Survivors include three children, Forrest (Becky) of Clover, Nancy Wissell of Vernon Hills, Ill., and Tracey (Dan) Curtain of Hortonville, and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Kathy Schuman and Cheryl Haapala; three brothers, Emil, Marvin and Stuart; and 20 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George; and three sisters, Phyllis Mc Cuen, Joanne Hofer and Barbara Jordan.

Visitation is Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wickmans Tri-County Funeral Home in Menasha and at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at the church at 11:30 a.m.

Robert was a school instructor and administrator in Wisconsin, followed by a career in the publishing industry. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and a great storyteller.

NEOSHO - Arleen O. Schwantes, 81, of Neosho, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Juneau with the Rev. Paul Schupmann officiating. Visitation for Arleen will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the time of service at the church. Interment will be in Hustisford Cemetery.

Arleen Olga was born on May 23, 1927, daughter of George C. and Ethel E. (Bohn) Laabs, in the town of Hustisford. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Hustisford. On Sept. 28, 1947, she was married to Merlin H. Schwantes at Bethany Lutheran Church in Hustisford.

Arleen had been employed at Juneau and at Wagner in Hustisford until her retirement. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Juneau and a member of the ladies aid. Arleen enjoyed crafts, bowling and traveling. A great joy for her was traveling with her sister to annual Toys National Conventions held in Hawaii, Texas, Connecticut, Tennessee, Iowa and Wisconsin.

She will be deeply missed by her family.

Arleen is survived by her two sons, Dwain M. Schwantes of Neosho and Allen G. (Susan) Schwantes of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Jennifer (fiancé Vincent Powell) Neumann of West Bend and Matthew (Megan) Schwantes of Beaver Dam; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Schwantes of Beaver Dam; a sister, Eldine (Vern) Neumann of Beaver Dam; a brother-in-law, Leslie (Nancy) Schwantes of Horicon; and a sister-in-law, Elaine (Robert) Schwanke of Oakfield.

She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merlin in 1982; and two infant brothers.

Roland W. Groth

Roland W. Groth, 94, of Watertown, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at home.

Roland was born on Dec. 20, 1913, in Watertown, son of Heino and Amanda (Sturm) Groth. He was a 1933 graduate of Watertown High School. He married Emma Trefz on Aug. 21, 1938, in Tolstoy, S.D. Roland farmed the family farm all his life. He was a life member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown. He was an active member of the church and served on the board of elders. He was a member of the Wethonkitha Club and Lakeside Men's Club.

Survivors include a son, Clifford (Patricia) Groth of Watertown; six grandchildren, Danielle AbuNuwar of Pittsburgh, Pa., Michele Hainstock of Watertown, Jean-Paul (Terri) Mackovich of Pittsburgh, Clifford Groth II of Watertown, Helen (Donald) Calaiaro of Pittsburgh and Charlotte Groth of Watertown; 13 great-grandchildren, Abdullah, Sewar, Raya and Amir AbuNuwar, Lauren, Mia and Ella Mackovich, Nathan and Courtney Groth, Anthony, Andrea, Nicholas and Michael Calaiaro; a sister-in-law, Anni Trefz of Tolstoy; also a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Sharon was a 1969 graduate of Oconomowoc High School. She was employed by Quest Technologies in Oconomowoc for 35 years.

Sharon was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Watertown and a former member of the St. Luke's Adult Choir and the WELS Church Vesper Choir.

Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family, doing crafts and making memory books.

Survivors include a sister; Linda (Dale) Hesselink of Oconomowoc; three nephews, Barry (Kari) Bruce of Hustisford, Ryan Hesselink of Jackson and Aaron Hesselink of Oconomowoc; a great-nephew; Colton Bruce, a great-niece; Zoey Bruce; along with other relatives and friends.

Sharon R. Sault, 65, a resident of Marquardt Memorial Manor in Watertown, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at Watertown Regional Medical Center.

Sharon R. Larson was born on April 18, 1943, in Eau Claire, the daughter of Kenneth and Gladys (Schreiner) Larson.

She was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown, a church youth group leader and Cub Scout leader, when her children were younger.

Clarence J. Wolf, 87, of Watertown, passed away Monday morning, Nov. 10, 2008, at Marquardt Memorial Manor.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with the Rev. Victor Tegtmeier of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be conducted by the Watertown Veterans Council and Watertown American Legion Post No. 189 in Glenview Memorial Gardens, Ixonia.

Clarence was born on Dec. 26, 1920, in Watertown, son of Gustav and Laura Ann (Hoof) Wolf. On May 12, 1956, he married the former Betty Jane Ninmann in Clyman. She preceded him in death on Dec. 1, 2007.

Clarence attended St. John's Lutheran School. He was a sergeant with the United States Army Cannon Co., 32nd Infantry during World War II. He had been employed at Loeb Industries in Watertown.

Clarence enjoyed woodworking and was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He loved spending time at their cottage in northern Wisconsin.

Clarence was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown. He was also a life member of the Richwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7852.

Clarence is survived by two sons, Michael (Cindee) Wolf and Mark (Cindy) Wolf, all of Watertown; four grandchildren, Shane (Sarah) Wolf of Jackson, Amber (Collin) Schaeffer of Knoxville, Tenn., Mark Tristan Wolf of Watertown and Misha Wolf of Seattle, Wash. He is also survived by a sister, Mabel Vogel of Fort Atkinson, along with nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

BEAVER DAM - Audrey “Minnie” L. Pritchard, 60 of Beaver Dam, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

Audrey was born on May 5, 1948, to Lawrence and Marie (Zeiner) Mintzlaff. Audrey was a graduate of Dodgeland High School and was united in marriage to Richard R. Pritchard Sr. on Aug. 3, 1968, in Beaver Dam. She worked at the Beaver Dam Care Center, Piggly Wiggly in Beaver Dam as a deli worker and more recently at Wal-Mart as a greeter.

Audrey loved going to rummage sales, fishing and spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed.

Audrey is survived by her husband, Richard Sr. of Beaver Dam; a son, Richard Pritchard Jr. of Beaver Dam; a daughter, Lynda (Tim) Karl of Fox Lake; three grandchildren, Alyson, Brianna and Erin Karl; two brothers, Alfred (Connie) Mintzlaff of Reese-ville and Lawrence (Raye) Mintzlaff of Watertown; brothers- and sisters-in- law, Charlie (Pam) Pritchard of Fall River, Lauretta (Cliff) Kikkert of Waupun, John Pritchard of Beaver Dam, Diane (Ed) Surpise of Beaver Dam, Shirley (Gene) Smith of Rosholt and Debbie (Gene) Gossen of northern Wisconsin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

OKEECHOBEE, Fla. - Blake Elliott Peirick, 17, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, unexpectedly at his home.

He was born April 21, 1991, in Fort Atkinson, Wis.

He had been a resident of Okeechobee for the past 16 years and was a junior at Okeechobee High School. He was a member of the Okeechobee High School crime watch.

Myron H. Nehls

JUNEAU - Myron H. Nehls of Juneau passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at the age of 82 years.

Myron was born May 8, 1926, in Hustisford, son of Morris and Mathilda (Eichstad) Nehls. He married the former Evelyn (Ninmann) on Sept. 8, 1946.

Myron farmed in the Hustisford area all his life and was an avid deer and duck hunter. He also loved to bowl. He and Evelyn loved to travel. He was a lifetime member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hustis-ford, where he served on the church council and the school building committee. He was one of the original organizers for Bethany's dartball league.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn in 2006; his son, Arthur in 2007; two sisters, Orla Yahn and Cynthia Nehls; and five brothers, Percy, Morris Jr., Wallace, Christian and Arthur Nehls.

He is survived by his loving children, Kevin Nehls of Watertown, Leland (Pat) Nehls of Clyman and Philip (Sherry) Nehls of Hustisford; his precious grandchildren, Oran (Amy) Nehls of Campbellsport, Corey (Becky) Nehls of Clyman, Jeffrey Nehls of Johnson Creek, Jonathan (Bridget) Nehls of Oconomowoc, Ashley Nehls of West Bend, Samuel Nehls of Beaver Dam and Adam Nehls of Beaver Dam; loving great-grandchildren, Brenna and Kyle Nehls, Isaiah and Alexander Komp, and Jennifer and David Nehls; with deep appreciation to Myron's two care givers in his last 14 months of life, Betsy Layton and Sunny; also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

ASHIPPUN - Mildred Voigt, 83, of Ashippun, passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008.

Surviving are loving husband of 51 years Roland Voigt; children, Larry (Lori) Voigt of Mapleton and stepson Gary (Donna) Voigt of Ashippun; five grandchildren, Ashley, Katie, Joshua, Matthew and Maggie; a great-grandson, Porter Voigt; a brother, Wallace (Eileen) Maas of Lebanon; two sisters, Eldoris Kuehl of Lebanon and Yvonne (Arnold) Weisensel of Watertown; along with many other relatives and friends.

Mildred married Roland Voigt on Nov. 24, 1956, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lebanon.

Mildred was an active member at St. John's Lutheran Church. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Elsie Schaefer

Elsie M. Schaefer 86, of Watertown, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at Watertown Regional Medical Center.

Elsie was born July 4, 1922, in Mulligan Township, Minn., the daughter of Frank and Maria (Roith) Wollinger. She married Arthur Schaefer on Jan. 4, 1947, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown.

She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, Catholic Knights, Parish Picnic Committee and Evening AARP No. 3056. She loved to play cards, crocheting and spending time with her family.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors include four children, Arthur J. Schaefer of Jefferson, Rose (Steven) Menzia of Watertown, Sharon (Sally Baker) Schaefer of Baltimore, Md., and Michael Schaefer of Watertown; a grandson, Justin (Cassie Kearney) Schaefer of Watertown; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on April 21, 2003; her son, James; her sisters, Mary and Frances; her brothers, Frank, Joseph, Alois “Louie” and Alfred.

George Draeger

George A. Draeger, 85, of Watertown, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 7, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Watertown.

Funeral services will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Groth officiating. Burial, with graveside military rites being conducted by the VFW Post No. 3709, will take place in Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown.

Visitation will be at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

George Arthur Draeger was born in Watertown on July 13, 1923, the son of William and Lorraine (Hilgendorf) Draeger. He married Shirley Witt on Oct. 27, 1946, in Ixonia.

George was a 1942 graduate of Watertown High School. George began his 38-year career at Wisconsin Electric Power Co. as a stores helper, was promoted to a lineman in 1950 and then as a line crew leader in 1963. He retired on Aug. 1, 1985.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown, a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local No. 2150, a life member of VFW Post No. 3709 and the Watertown American Legion Post No. 189.

George had a very inventive nature. He designed and built his first home. Watertown residents recall George's Houdini act in the annual water show at the Riverside Park swimming pool.

During his high school years, he was known for his athleticism in sports. In his senior year, he joined the United States Navy during World War II. He served in the Seabees, doing underwater salvage, demolition and building airfields in the South Pacific.

During George and Shirley's retirement at Fish Lake in Hancock, he was active at Grace Lutheran Church and coordinated the building of a new parsonage.

From his youth, he enjoyed planting trees with various organizations and at their homes. George had a close relationship with his family, spending many weekends hunting and fishing with his grandsons.

His faith in God, love of his country and love for family were his primary interests.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Draeger of Watertown; two sons, Steve Draeger and Allen (Christine) Draeger; three grandsons, Lee (Trudy) Draeger, Nick (Melissa Soto) Draeger and Steven Draeger; a sister-in-law, Irma Draeger; and other relatives and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents; a son, George W. Draeger in 1985; and a brother, Harold Draeger.

George was the last remaining member of his immediate family.

OCONOMOWOC - Ronald “Ronny” J. Thurow, 64, of Oconomowoc, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008.

He was the fond brother of Gordon Thurow of Oconomowoc, Gerald (Barb) Thurow of Boulder Junction and Charlie Thurow of Wisconsin. He was the dear uncle of Tammy (Peter) Klingler of Sullivan and Michelle (Anthony) Wilson of Watertown.

He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

Ronny was retired from Carnation Co. after 30 years, an Army veteran, a member of VFW Post 2260 in Oconomowoc and a graduate of the 1962 class at Oconomowoc High School.

Sidney Zimmermann

OCONOMOWOC - Sidney R. Zimmermann of Oconomowoc, formerly of Hustisford, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at the age of 60 years.

He was born March 19, 1948, son of Gerhard and Angela (Leitzke) Zimmer-mann.

Sid was known as an honest, generous, selfless man who loved to hunt deer, enjoyed Brewers and Packers games, was good with children, “the best father - bar none,” an avid reader who enjoyed Rex Stout and Agatha Christie, celebrated family time with his brothers in yearly visits, and enjoying golf and tennis. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and served in the United States Marine Corps for two years. Sid spent his entire working career of over 40 years at Silgan Containers in Oconomowoc.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Sidney is survived by his children, Brandon (Melissa) Zimmermann of Juneau and Megan (James) Farrell of Appleton; his granddaughter, Christine Zimmermann; two brothers, Daniel (Merion) Zimmermann of the Philip-pines and Marshall (Kathleen) Zimmermann of Vallejo, Calif.; his nephew, Scott; and his niece, Kallyon.

IXONIA - Myron P. Schmidtke, 60, of Ixonia, died on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008.

He was the beloved husband of Shari Ann (Hollatz); the loving father of Paul (Holly) Schmidtke of Delafield and Amy (Johnny) Prill of Waterford; fond brother of Carol (Chuck) Untidt of Milwaukee, Jerry (Mary) Schmidtke of Sussex and Bob (Elle) Schmidtke of Lannon; dear grandfather of Anya, Bret and Preston.

Myron was a truck driver and former member of the Ixonia Lions Club. He was a member of Divine Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Ernesto Rolón, 98, of Watertown, died on Wednes-day, Nov. 5, 2008, at Harbor Haven in Fond du Lac.

Ernesto was born Feb. 10, 1910, in Coamo, Puerto Rico, son of Luis and Crus (Rodríguez) Rolón. He married the former Juanita Delgado on Oct. 2, 1932, in Ponce.

Ernesto was a salesman for Santurce Trading and Haloc Sales in Puerto Rico, retiring in 1972.

Surviving are his daughter, Miriam (Gene) Stocks of Watertown; two sons, Osvaldo (Josie) Rolón of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Ernesto (Olga) Rolón Jr. of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; a grandson, Robert (Sarah) Stocks of Watertown; a granddaughter, Ivonne (Bill) Cheek of Fort Atkinson; eight grandchildren in Puerto Rico; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandson; two nephews and one niece.

ASHIPPUN - Fredrick “Fred” C. Kleba, 71, of Ashippun, formerly of Hixon, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at Oconomowoc Mem-orial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 26, 1936, in the town of Hixon, son of the late Joseph and Rachel (Staffon) Kleba. He married Mary J. Mattson on July 28, 1956, in Northfield.

Fred worked at Fiberesin Industries in Oconomowoc for 43 years. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and going to the cabin. He was an avid softball player in his younger years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his two sons, Chuck (Sue) Kleba of Watertown and Joe (Tena) Kleba of Gold Bar, Wash.; his daughter, Rosemary (Kenny) Chwala of Watertown; eight grandchildren, Trisha (Shawn) Moran, Kayla (Drew) Dehnert, John (Sara Jane) Chwala, Brad Chwala, Sarah Chwala, Essen Tarentino, Laura Kleba and Toni Kleba; his great-grandchildren, Jackson, Alanna, Collin, Tyler, Riley and baby Dehnert; one brother, Jack (Mary) Kleba of Hixon; and a sister-in-law, Marguerite Kleba of Hixon.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bob and Earl; two sisters, Mary Lou and Elizabeth; and one great-granddaughter, Ramona Dehnert.

Marian was born May 7, 1921, in Reeseville, Wis., daughter of the late Henry and Ella Yauman. She was a registered nurse.

Lois K. Hargraves

Lois K. Hargraves, age 92, of Watertown, passed away on Saturday Nov. 1, 2008, at her home.

The former Lois K. Kehoe was born on Aug. 26, 1916, in Watertown, daughter of Edward and Edna (Urtebees) Kehoe. On Feb. 14, 1939, she married Robert Hargraves at Sacred Heart Chapel in Watertown. He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1989.

Lois was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Ladies Of Elks, Saturday Club, Catholic Women's Club and Watertown Hospital Auxiliary, where she volunteered. Lois loved to play bridge and she was an avid Packer fan.

Survivors include her children, Mary Hargraves and James (Sherry) Hargraves, all of Watertown; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by two daughters, Kathleen Hargraves and Patricia Preinfalk; a son, Joel Hargraves; her parents; and three brothers, Gordon, Everett and Jack Kehoe.

JEFFERSON - Imelda “Millie” F. Mercer, 71, of Jefferson passed away on Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at her home.

Millie was born on June 4, 1937, in Beaver Dam. She married Robert Mercer on Oct. 5, 1957, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Beaver Dam.

Millie had been employed at Southgate Floral from 1986 to 1999. She had a special love for flowers and enjoyed working in her garden. She also provided day care out of her home.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson.

She is survived by her husband, Robert of Jefferson; three daughters, Ann (Scott) Adkins of Jefferson, Amy Mercer of Janesville and Susan (Kurt) Sheil of Jefferson; four sons, Robert (Ellen) Mercer of Pierre, S.D., David (Elizabeth) Mercer of Abita Springs, La., Scott Mercer of LaValle and Matthew (Tammy) Mercer Sr. of Jefferson; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia (Roger) Ascherien of Beaver Dam and JoAnn (Dave Kluz) Tiedt of Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Irene (Lemanski) McCaffrey; a brother, Robert McCaffrey; a sister, Nancy Mary McCaffrey; and her stepfather, Cornelius McCaffrey.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson.

Graveside committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Michael Cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Gerald Brummel

OXFORD - Gerald “Jerry” Brummel, 75, of Oxford, formerly of Watertown, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at his residence.

Memorial funeral services followed by full military honors will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Neenah Valley Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post No. 6003, N3250 1st Drive, Oxford 53952.

Visitation with the family greeting relatives and friends will be held at the Neenah Valley Memorial Post 6003 on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2:30 p.m.

Jerry was born on Oct. 29, 1932, son of the late Andrew and Helen (Kammes) Brummel. He was raised and attended school in Naperville, Ill. He then enlisted in the United States Army and was promoted to the rank of sergeant while serving with the 7th Infantry Division on the Korean front as a tank crewman. He wore the Korean Service Ribbon with three campaign stars and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious duty.

In October 1953 he married Marjorie Herrmann. Together they farmed in Illinois and the Watertown area and raised 10 children. He was a member of the Watertown Jaycees, Catholic Knights of Columbus, the Richwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and a volunteer fireman for the town of Shields. In 1965 he was named Watertown's Out-standing Young Farmer. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 6003 of Oxford. He enjoyed bowling, a good game of cards and playing the harmonica.

Jerry is survived by his children, David (Sandra) of Hudson, Daniel (Julie) of McFarland, Howard (Melissa) of Woodstock, Ga., Linda (Gregg) Grimm of West Bend, Kenneth (Dawn) of Sun Prairie, Edward (Sharon) of Middleton, James (Kimberly) of River Falls, Joseph (RoAnna) of Prior Lake, Minn., Anita (Adam) Marlett of Omro and Angela of Madison; 25 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. He is further survived by his sisters, Dorothy White, Mildred Wolsfeld, Pauline Meuhlfelt, Geraldine Klenda (Jerry's twin) and Janice (Sal) Ferreri; brothers, Arthur (Rita), Norman (Jean) and Irvin (Sandy).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alyssa Brummel; sisters, Edith Stark and Marie White; and a brother, Floyd.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King.

Bryce G. Field

Bryce Gerald Field, son of Gerald and Julie Field of Watertown, was born sleeping on Friday, Oct. 31, 2008.

I was taken up far to our heaven above in the great Lord's hands with everlasting love. I was taken very soon but not to late. We will all meet again at our heaven's gate.

Bryce was stillborn Friday at Watertown Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown with the Rev. Father Brian J. Wilk officiating. Burial will be in St. Henry Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Gayle L. Heggie

ELKHORN - Gayle L. Heggie, 84, of Second Avenue, Elkhorn, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 18, 1924, in Minneapolis, Minn., son of Ralph and Emily (Robinson) Heggie. Gayle graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in electrical engineering. Gayle served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and was involved with the Iwo Jima invasion.

On March 16, 1946, in West Allis, Gayle was united in marriage to Virginia L. Mauch. He was employed as an electrical engineer with Hevi-Duty Company for over 25 years, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Elkhorn, past commander of the Elkhorn Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6375, member of the American Legion Post No. 45, 60-year member of the National EAA, member of the Local EAA Chapter No. 60 of Beloit and Chapter No. 931 of Adams. Gayle also served on U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan's Veterans Advisory Board.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia; four children, Lynda Adas of Elkhorn, Neal (Candy) Heggie of Helenville, Claudia (Randy) Schroedl of Durand, Ill., and Mary Jane (Tom) Erie of Stoughton; seven grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah) and Rachel Adas, Melissa (John) Voigt, Brian (Amy) Heggie, Andrew (Maria) and Elizabeth Schroedl and Mitchell Erie; six great-grandchildren, Matthew Jr., Joshua, Paul, Sean Adas, Maxwell and Jackson Voigt.

Gayle was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wesley.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 415 Devendorf St., Elkhorn, with the Rev. Kurt Grunewald officiating. Grave-side services with full military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. in Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn, and at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until time of services.

Virgil D. Petty

JEFFERSON - Virgil D. Petty, 86, of Jefferson, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at Fort Memorial Hospital in Fort Atkinson.

He was born on Dec. 11, 1921, in Jose, Colo., son of the late Mont and Frances (Spencer) Petty. He married Regina Ropinski on July 26, 1947, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson.

Virgil served in the United States Army, 32nd Red Arrow Division, where he received the Bronze Star at Luzon in the Philippines. He then farmed in the Jefferson area with Spangler Brothers, and was employed at Carnation Company in Jefferson for 32 years, retiring in June 1986.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Reinhardt-Windl American Legion Post No. 164 and Endl-Gruennert Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3589.

Virgil was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Regina of Jefferson; two daughters, Irene (Donald) Moe of Placentia, Calif., and Mary Petty of Jefferson; five sons, Wayne (Kathleen) Petty of Madison, David (Julee) Petty of Placentia, Daniel (Deb) Petty of Jefferson, Joel (Veronica) Petty of Baraboo and Steven Petty of Waukesha; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lois (Herbert) Schmitz of Jefferson.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Myrtle Krueger, Maxine Blasing, Hazel Helle and Izola Multhauf.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson with the Rev. Thomas Coyle officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Glenview Memorial Gardens, Ixonia.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Memorials may be given in memory of Virgil Petty to Jefferson Rainbow Hospice and Tomorrow's Hope.

Larry Fortmann

HONOLULU, Hawaii - Larry Lee Fortmann, 55, of Honolulu, was born to eternal life Oct. 13, 2008.

He was the beloved son of Raymond G. and Dorothy (Walker) Fortmann, and was born Sept. 11, 1953, in Watertown, Wis.

He was the loving brother of Vicki Moser of Fort Myers, Fla., Raymond (Addy) of Helenville, Wis., August (Donna) of Ixonia, Wis., and Phyllis (Ken) Wolfgram of Oconomowoc, Wis.; brother-in-law of Lois Fortmann of Oconomowoc; and also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles, Dale and Roger; and brother-in-law, Ewald Moser.

A memorial service for Larry will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 2 p.m. Private burial will be in Glenview Memorial Gardens, Ixonia, at a later date.

Friends may visit from 1 to 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a charity of one's choice.

Larry was a U.S. Navy veteran.
