M&I names new head

Patrick Caine
M&I Bank senior vice president Patrick Caine will become the market president of the local business starting on Jan. 1, 2009.

Caine will replace John Ebert, who announced his retirement Monday.

Caine began his career with M&I in 1985 in Milwaukee and moved to the Watertown office in 1991.

In addition to his new duties as market president, Caine will continue in his role as a business and agricultural banking manager for M&I's southwest region.

He obtained his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He received his master's degree in business administration from Marquette University.

Caine has served the community in various capacities over the years and is the current board chairman of the UW Health Partners Watertown Regional Medical Center. He is also a trustee for the Joe Davies Scholarship Foundation and serves on the finance committee of St. Henry's Parish.

He has also served in various capacities for the Watertown Optimist Club and is past president of the Watertown Library board of trustees. He has also been a member of the Watertown Economic Development Advisory Committee.

Caine and his wife, Joy, reside in Watertown with their three children, Brian, Kasey and Brett.

Ebert has been with M&I for 26 years, most recently serving as market president of the branches in Watertown and Beaver Dam.

“I have really enjoyed my tenure as president of M&I Bank,” Ebert said.

Ebert will continue to serve as a board member of M&I Bank in Watertown along side current directors Robert Bender, William Kwapil and Richard Baker.

Ebert resides in Watertown with his wife, Gladys.

He has served on the Watertown Rotary Club, Water-town Chamber of Commerce Promotive Corporation and is a member of the Parish Council at St. Bernard's Catholic Church.

A community open house for Ebert will be held in December.
