Sheridan Chamberlain

PRAIRIE DU SAC - Sheridan W. Chamberlain, 84, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at his home on Lake Wisconsin.

He was born in Wauzeka on Aug. 16, 1924, son of the late Sam and Ethel (Shaw) Chamberlain. Sheridan is at home in heaven with his wife Dorothy who preceded him in death on July 14, 2007.

Sheridan and Dorothy were united in marriage on June 30, 1946, of which they shared 61 wonderful years together. God was good to them and a son was born on March 4, 1947. Reginald and his wife, Madonna reside in Merrimac. The second joy in life was grandchildren, Troy D. Chamberlain (deceased) and Martina A. (Bruce) Chamberlain Bierman, and his third joy was a great-grandson, Mackenzey Troy Chamberlain.

It was a blessing to his family to have such great parents and grandparents, no words can express the treasured moments we have shared together.

Sheridan and Dorothy were very avid dancers at Turner Hall in Watertown. Sheridan served his country on the beaches of Normandy June 4, 1944, in the U.S. Army. He received the Victory Medal, Ribbon with silver Battle Star, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star, and served three tours of duty in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theaters.

Sheridan and Dorothy were members of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars post. He worked at Crepaco in Lake Mills for many years. Sheridan has left many memories to the Chamberlains, Hoses, Borchardts, Hoffmans, Faith United Methodist Church of LaFarge, Trinity Lutheran Church of Watertown and all the friends they have touched all through the years.

Dad's top-notch fun was a chance to ride a Harley motorcycle with Martina, Bruce and Mackenzey. Dad also enjoyed fishing with his son and great-grandson on the Wisconsin River.

In addition to his wife Dorothy, Sheridan was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Troy Chamberlain; three sisters, Leon, Faye and Carola; and four brothers, Clarence, Sammy, Obert and Arnold.

A celebration of Sheridan's life will be held at a later date.
