Irene A. Walter

Irene A. Walter, 89, of Watertown, passed away Thursday evening, July 10, 2008, at Marquardt Memorial Manor in Watertown following a brief illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Brian Wilk officiating. Burial will be in Holy Angels Catholic Cemetery in West Bend.

A visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Memorials may be directed to St. Henry's Catholic Grade School or Lebanon EMS.

Irene Anna Kocher was born in West Bend on June 8, 1919, daughter of Paul and Sarah (McGinnis) Kocher.

On Feb. 18, 1939, Irene married Robert G. Walter at Holy Angels Parsonage in West Bend. They farmed most of their lives in the town of Emmet and were married for 58 years. Robert preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1997.

Irene graduated from West Bend High School in 1937. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown and the Watertown Senior Citizens Center.

She loved spending time with family and friends and spending winters in Mesa, Ariz. Irene enjoyed playing sheepshead and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her four sons, James (Carol) Walters of Watertown, Richard (Susan) Walter of Watertown, Kenneth (Paulette) Walter of Bakersfield, Calif., and John (Patrice) Walter of Watertown; a daughter, Judith (Larry) Reykdal of Watertown; seven grandchildren, Christoph and Sarah Walters, Barbara Kopplin, Janet (James) Canino, Erica Bakeman and Caleb and Ethan Walter; three great-grandchildren, Jessica and Benjamin Kopplin and Brittany Helms; two sisters, Marian Bohn and Marguerite Lorenz, both of West Bend; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Irene was further preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Kocher; father-in-law Christoph Walter; mother-in-law Anna Walter; three brothers-in-law, Phil Bohn, Henry Lorenz and Millard Laubenheimer; and a sister-in-law, Marie Laubenheimer Hughes.

Edward Koeppel

LAKE MILLS - Edward “Hank” H. Koeppel, 81, of Lake Mills, passed away at home on Thursday, July 10, 2008.

Edward was born on June 27, 1927, to the late Edward and Florence (Nieman) Koeppel in Pembine.

On July 2, 1949, Hank was united in marriage to Beverly Rahn of Lake Mills. The wedding ceremony was held at the Grace Lutheran Church, Pembine, and was the same church where he was baptized.

He graduated in 1945 from the Jefferson High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17 and served during World War II in the South Pacific on a mine sweeper.

Hank was employed by J.H. Findorff Construction Company of Madison from 1973 to 1989. He supervised many large projects, including the University Hospital, VA Hospital and CUNA Credit Union. He worked on the Milwaukee Deep Tunnel project prior to retirement. Hank was a master at stone masonry, and built many beautiful fireplaces and chimneys in the Lake Mills area.

Edward was a member of the Clarence Bean-Warren George Post No. 67 of the Lake Mills American Legion and enjoyed working at the Legion hamburger stand. He was a member and past president of the Jefferson County Ostomy Club and active in Relay For Life for the American Cancer Society. Hank served as general leader of the South Side Eagles 4-H Club for several years and was supportive to three generations of his family involved in 4-H.

Hank enjoyed gardening, music and singing. He always had time to attend all of his children's and grandchildren's activities.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly; three sons, Douglas (Susan) of Lake Mills, Greg D. (Patty) of Cambridge and Bradley (Martine) of Watertown; one daughter, Barbara (Wayne) Britzke of Lake Mills; seven grandchildren, Leila (Daryl) Nordness, Laura and Lisa Koeppel, Nathaniel Britzke, Emma and Carl Koeppel and Margaret Koeppel; one great-grandson, Christopher Edward Nordness; one sister, Norma (Wallace) Brooks of Rochelle, Ill.; one brother-in-law, Russell Bergholz of Lake Mills; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Also preceding in death were two sisters, Dorothy in infancy and Margaret Bergholz.

Private family graveside services will be held in Rock Lake Cemetery.

If desired, memorials may be made to the Lake Mills Relay For Life.

Lorenz Wesemann

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Lorenz “Larry” William Wesemann Jr. of Long Beach, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, unexpectedly in Long Beach.

Celebration of life services for Larry will be held Sunday, July 20, at 3 p.m. at Ebenezer Moravian Church in Watertown, Wis. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ebenezer Moravian Church, Larry's home church.

Written memories and/or thoughts to Larry will be placed with him at his burial site. Notes at the visitation time will be available for anyone who wishes to be included.

Larry was born in Watertown on June 22, 1948, son of Lorenz and Pearl (Elske) Wesemann. Larry graduated from Watertown High School, received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

On Aug. 15, 1987, which was his parents 50th wedding anniversary, Larry married Lynda C. LaPlante at Ebenezer Moravian Church.

Larry worked for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation as a planner in Madison, Wis., for the beginning of his engineering career. Larry then became a principal planner for Orange County Transit District in Anaheim. He was very well known and respected in his career by heading up various projects such as the Van Nuys Earthquake Rebuild and Bakersfield Bus Transit System, while holding the position of principal associate at Parsons Barton-Aschman Associates in Pasadena.

Larry had an avid interest and knowledge in mountain climbing, sports and traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Lynda C. LaPlante; two sisters, Mary (Don) Niemi and Lois Thiede-Stallman; a brother, Chuck (Judy) Wesemann; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Phyllis (Eldyn Jr.) Pitzner.

Dale Mercado

JEFFERSON - Deogra-cia “Dale” C. Mercado, 73, of Jefferson, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at his home in Jefferson.

He was born March 22, 1935, in Puerto Rico, son of the late Berto Crespo and Matilde Mercado. He married Joan E. Linton on Oct. 31, 1959.

Dale began his employment at Whitewater Manufac-turing for eight years, then at Quality Aluminum Casting Co. for 14 years. He later owned and operated with pride DJ Bar for 18 years, and Dale's Bait Shop in Jefferson for eight years with the help of his sons, Dale and David. He retired from the bar in 1994, and began working for Wisconsin Fine Blanking and Machining until 2002.

Dale was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Dale is survived by his wife, Joan; two sons, Dale (Corine) Mercado and David Mercado; a daughter, Margaret (Mark) Schloesser; 10 grandchildren, Melissa (Mauricio) Rios, Heather Schoonover, Tiffani, David, Lindsey and Jake Mercado, Kelsey, Grayson and Madeline Gynild, Sarah Schloesser; a great-grandson, Aidan Mauricio Rios; a brother-in-law, Bob (Elaine) Linton; two sisters-in-law, Sally Hartley and Mae Mercado.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Enrique Mercado.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at noon on Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson with the Rev. Thomas Coyle officiating.

Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

Edward W. Lenz

WATERLOO - Edward W. Lenz, 82, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Watertown.

Edward was born on Aug. 24, 1925, in the town of Portland, son of Gilbert and Martha (Nehmer) Lenz. He was a 1943 graduate of Waterloo High School and served in the Navy during World War II.

Edward was a hairdresser and owned his own shop in Parkridge, Ill., for 51 years, retiring in 2003. He was a member of Cornerstone Church in Waterloo and the Waterloo American Legion Post No. 233.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mae Lenz of Waterloo; four nieces, Barbara Carter of Reeseville, Bonnie (Richard) Wolff of Waterloo, Brenda (James) Marshall of Waterloo and Kimberly Lenz of Watertown; three nephews, Thomas (Paulette) Lenz and Glenn Lenz, both of Rockford, Ill., and Ronald (Sandra) Lenz of Watertown. He is also survived by a number of cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Eugene, Floyd and William.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Church in Waterloo with the Rev. Keith Doyle officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Cemetery, town of Portland.

Visitation will be held at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorials to Cornerstone Church in Waterloo would be appreciated.

Benjamin Richter

Benjamin “Ben” P. Richter, 16, of Watertown, passed away Monday evening, July 7, 2008, at Watertown Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Crosspoint Community Church in Oconomowoc with the Rev. Terry Fulks officiating.

Visitation will be held at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Benjamin Patrick Richter was born on Sept. 8, 1991, in Stevens Point, son of Bill and Rosy (Karch) Richter.

Ben loved spending time with his brother, family and friends. He enjoyed baseball, soccer, basketball and golfing. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling and snowmobiling.

Ben was going to be a senior at Watertown High School.

Survivors include his parents, Bill and Rosy Richter of Watertown; his brother, Adam Richter of Watertown; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Bernadetta Karch of Amherst Junction; paternal grandmother, Patricia Richter of Rosholt; and a special friend, Angela Rothschadl of Watertown.

Ben was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Stanley Richter.

Gladys Schwenkner

Gladys L. Schwenkner, 81, of Watertown, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at her home following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Anthony Schultz and the Rev. Mark Gartner officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Watertown.

Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

The former Gladys Lillian Werth was born in Waterloo on Aug. 2, 1926, daughter of Otto and Adeline (Gehrke) Werth. On June 26, 1948, she married Oscar Schwenkner at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Watertown.

Gladys had been employed at the former Mid-State Shoe Factory and Brandt Automatic Cashier, retiring after 28 years. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Watertown and enjoyed walking, cooking and baking.

She is survived by her husband, Oscar “Ozzie” Schwenkner of Watertown; a son, Gerald Schwenkner of Watertown; two sisters, Eleanor Munzel of Minneapolis, Minn., and Barbara (Gerald) Nimm of Watertown; other relatives and friends.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and two brothers.

Raymond Schultz

OSHKOSH - Raymond “Happy” C. Schultz, 88 of Oshkosh, has gone home to where he wanted to be, in Jesus arms. Ray died peacefully with his family at his side on Monday July 7, 2008, at his daughter's home.

Ray was born in the town of Elba on Feb. 29, 1920, son of Henry and Ida (Goss) Schultz. Raymond attended Bethlehem Lutheran School in Hustisford. Raymond married Dorothy Mae Huber on April 11, 1953.

Raymond was a hard working herdsman farmer in the Dodge County area and then moved to Grundy Farms in Oshkosh from 1974 to 1991, when Ray finally retired at the age of 71. Raymond was a member of Martin Luther Evangelical Church in Oshkosh.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy; seven children, Alvin Schultz of Brownsville, Richard (Sue) Schultz of Chilton, Linda (John) Barthels of Oshkosh, Wanda (Doug) De Witt of Winneconne, Karen (Roger) Boe of Oshkosh, Randy Schultz of Oshkosh, and Roxanne (Mike) Church of Oshkosh; 11 grandchildren, Stephanie, Jeffrey, Danny (Deb), Jenny (Jason), Tiffany, Sheila (Jonathan), Jeremy, Adam, Marissa, Justin and Ryan; 10 great-grandchildren, along with stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Ray is also survived by his best friend that was always at his side, Snoopy the dog.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and a sister, Edward (Lorraine), Harvey (Erna) and Ruth (Elmer) Czoschke; a special stepgreat-grandson, Jasper; along with other special family and friends.

Raymond's funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, 105 Juneau Road, Lowell, with the Rev. Jeffrey Berg from Oshkosh Martin Luther Church officiating. Burial will be in Lowell Cemetery.

Family and friends may call at Salem Lutheran Church on Friday from noon until the time of the service.

Raymond's family would like to express their deep sincere gratitude to Aurora Medical Hospital and their staff for all the patience and great kindness they showed with Ray. LeRoy Kohn

BEAVER DAM - LeRoy “Dick” Kohn, 90, died on Sunday, July 6, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.

Visitation for Dick will be held on Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Reeseville from 9 to 11 a.m. The funeral service will follow on Friday at the church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Steinberg officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, town of Lowell, Dodge County.

LeRoy Wallace Kohn was born on April 27, 1918, in Reeseville, son of the late Oscar and Rosa (Weihert) Kohn. On Sept. 8, 1935, he was united in marriage with Bernice Lau at Trinity Lutheran Church in the town of Lowell.

Dick farmed in the Reeseville area for many years. Later, he worked at G.B. Lewis in Watertown and for the Dodgeland School District.

Dick was a past member of the Reeseville Lions Club and past secretary of Reeseville Sportsmen's Club. He was a past member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Reeseville and a current member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Reeseville.

Dick is survived by his daughter, Shirley Beecher of Oregon; his sons, Rodney (Barbara) Kohn of Fort Atkinson and Delvin (Dar-lene) Kohn of Kewaskum; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Fehling of Beaver Dam and Ruby (Richard) Means of Broken Arrow, Okla.; sisters-in-law, Adeline Kohn of Waterloo and Doris Strobel of Marshall; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernice; a son-in-law, Robert Beecher; brothers, Leslie, Harvey and Henry; and a brother-in-law, James Fehling.

David J. Berg

LAKE MILLS - David J. Berg, 60, of Lake Mills, died on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at his home.

He was born on Jan. 7, 1948 in Dodgeville, the son of Norbert and Shirley (Diederich) Berg.

He married Kathleen Marie Donnelly of Lake Mills on Sept. 26, 1970, in Lake Mills.

David was a 1965 graduate of Lake Mills High School and later attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He was a truck driver for Highway Land-scaper. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army.

David was a member of the Teamsters Union for 25 years and also the Clarence Bean-Warren George American Legion Post No. 67 of Lake Mills.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen of Lake Mills; one daughter, Heather of Chic-ago, Ill.; two sons, Jonathan of Chicago and Michael of Lake Mills; his mother, Shirley Berg of Watertown; two brothers, Clifford and Keith (Charlene), both of Watertown; one sister, Barbara (John) Erickson of Fitchburg; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norbert; a sister, Kathleen Lanis; and a son, Christopher.

A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Lake Mills American Legion.

Private family burial with military graveside rites will be held at a later date.

Nayda Sanquist

Nayda J. (Piggott) Sanquist, 80, of Lansing, Mich., formerly of Watertown and Egan, Minn., died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Ingham County Medical Care Facility in Okemos, Mich.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Blanc, Mich.

There is no visitation. The Swartz Funeral Home of Flint, Mich., is in charge of arrangements.

Nayda was born in Flushing, Mich., on Nov. 2, 1927, the daughter of the late Walter and Susan Piggott.

In 1945 Nayda graduated from Flint Central High School and in 1948 from the University of Michigan School of Nursing. She was commissioned a Navy nurse in 1951, the same year she married Dr. George Sanquist.

Surviving are three children, Nancy (John) Lamers of Eagan, George E. San-quist Jr. of Milwaukee and Mark (Mary) Sanquist of St. Paul, Minn.; two grandchildren, Andrew Lamers and Anna Sanquist; one brother, Donald Piggott of Spokane, Wash.; a sister, Ellen (Stuart) Knickerbocker of East Lansing, Mich.; several nieces and nephews.

Harold A. Senn

Harold Alton Senn of Watertown passed away at Golden Living Center-Watertown on Friday, July 4, 2008. He was 88 years old.

Harold was born on Jan. 8, 1920, in Mound Prairie, Houston County, Minn. His parents were Andrew and Alice (Gstalder) Senn. He graduated from Houston High School in Houston, Minn., in 1938.

Harold married Elayne Dorothy Margaret Bender on June 30, 1941, at First Baptist Church in Watertown with Pastor Gustav Wetter officiating. They have celebrated 67 years of marriage.

Harold attended the University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin and Maranatha Baptist Bible College.

He was a seaman first class and served during World War II on the Navy Somers Class destroyer, the USS-Sampson (DD-394). He saw action in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and the Pacific. His destroyer was credited with a U-boat sinking, shooting down of Kamikazes, and the invasion of Biak Island in the Pacific.

He was employed at Thomas Industries (Moe Light) in Fort Atkinson for 37 years, retiring in 1982.

Harold was a lifelong Baptist and served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Watertown.

Harold served on the Watertown City Council during the 1980s and on the Fourth of July Parade Committee for several years. Until recently, he was a member of the Jefferson County Veterans Board. In the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), he served as commander, adjutant and treasurer. He served as chaplain for the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and was a member of the American Legion.

His parents; brothers, Everett, Wallace, and Kenneth; daughters, Margaret and Gloria preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Elayne; children, Dr. Dwayne (Ruth) Senn of Joliet, Ill., Dr. Daniel (Denise) Senn of Beaverton, Ore., and Carol (John) Ruffin of Watertown; foster children, Michael (Mary) Wood of Santa Ana, Calif., and Shaaron Wood of Watertown; sisters, Marilyn Hahn of Spring Grove, Minn., and Evangeline Voigt of Rochester, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Moore officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Watertown.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Pederson Funeral Home in Watertown and on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Maranatha Baptist Bible College Fine Arts Department and Fellowship Baptist Church Building Accessibility Fund.

Lucille D. Kramer

SULLIVAN - Lucille D. Kramer, 81, of Sullivan, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 6, 2008, at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Concord with the Rev. Wayne Dobratz officiating. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery, Concord.

Visitation is at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Lucille Dorothy Maasz was born July 12, 1926, in the town of Concord, youngest daughter of William and Celia (Reese) Maasz. On April 14, 1945, she married Dean Kramer at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church. He preceded her on Dec. 10, 2002.

Lucille was a lifelong member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Concord. She loved the Lord and all of his creatures, and enjoyed watching and feeding them, but her favorite was hummingbirds. She was a homemaker whose greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her two granddaughters.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Wayne Hartwig of Jefferson; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Judy Kramer of Helenville; two granddaughters, Mindy and Jamie Kramer of Milwaukee; two sisters-in-law, June Maasz and Evelyn Maasz, both of Fort Atkinson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, as well as grand dogs, Bailey and Miesha.

Lucille was the last surviving member of her family.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Wilbert Maasz, Arthur Maasz, Leroy Maasz and Clarence Maasz in infancy; and a sister, Isabelle Hayes.

Ruth L. Mueller

HUSTISFORD - Ruth Louise Mueller of Hustisford passed away on Friday, July 4, 2008, at the age of 88 years at Marquardt Manor in Watertown.

She was born on Dec. 17, 1919, in Ashippun the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Schlage) Schmidt. Ruth married Raymond Mueller on May 28, 1938, at St. John's Church in Ashippun. They farmed for most of their lives and were married for 65 years.

Ruth had been a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church since her marriage and its ladies aid. Ruth retired from Eaton Industries in Watertown in 1983 after 25 years of service. She volunteered at Bethesda Country Store in Horicon.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; and two sisters, Esther Uecker and Doris Scott.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lee (Allen) Petersen of Ixonia; her sons, Curtis (Carolyn) Mueller of Hustisford and Dean (Roxanne) Mueller of Hustisford; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Visitation is Tuesday at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hustisford from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Timothy Bauer officiating. Interment will be in Hustisford Cemetery.

Lela L. Lincoln

OCONOMOWOC - Lela L. Lincoln, 94, of Oconomowoc, formerly of Watertown, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Shorehaven Health and Rehabilitation Center in Oconomowoc.

Lela was born on Feb. 8, 1914, in Detroit, Mich., daughter of William and Ethel (Rees) Whiting. She was a 1931 graduate of Dearborn, Mich., high school. She married William Lincoln on Sept. 8, 1934, in Dearborn.

Lela and her husband lived in the Detroit, Mich., area until 1996. Lela was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown. She loved crocheting, cooking, drawing, bird watching, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include a son, Pastor William (Barbara) Lincoln of Menomonee Falls; four granddaughters, Becky (Dan) Stephens of Henderson, Nev., Beth (Vince) Kobosh of Lake Mills, Christine Lincoln of Dunbar and Rachel (Dwayne) Gibson of Wyoming, Minn.; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; also a niece, nephew, other relatives and friends.

Memorials to Calvary Baptist Church would be appreciated.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown with the Rev. Dr. Robert J. Loggans officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Watertown.

Robert Burbach

Robert “Birch” C. Burbach, 70, of Watertown, was called to his eternal home on Tuesday, July 1, 2008.

Bob was born in Water-town on Sept. 1, 1937, son of Leon and Gladys (Schmidt) Burbach. He was a 1955 graduate of Watertown High School. Following his graduation, Bob served his country in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1958.

He married Ellen “Kay” Meyers on March 27, 1960, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown. He was co-owner of Burbach's Standard Service station from 1960 to 1976 and retired from Wis-Pak in 2005.

Birch was a die-hard Cubs fan and an official member of the Die Hard Cubs Fan Club.

Bob attended River Valley Alliance Church in Watertown. His hobbies included fishing, gardening and putting puzzles together at the kitchen table. Favorite pastimes were taking long walks with his wife and spending time with his granddaughters, Andie and Rachel.

Survivors include his wife, Kay of Watertown; three children, Sandi (Steve) Blann of Pompano Beach, Fla., Linda (Jon) Blasé of Watertown and Andy (Carol) Burbach of Johnson Creek; seven grandchildren, Kyle (Erin) and Robert Jones, Andie and Rachel Blasé, Courtney Blann, Lisa (Kraig) Knight and Amanda (Nick) Wendt; seven great-grandchildren Clayton, Cole, Nicholas, Lillian, Krystyne, Allie and Jane; a brother, Jacob (Lorraine) Burbach of Water-town; a sister, Harrie Stalker-Brede of Watertown; also a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.

Memorials to River Valley Alliance Church or Rainbow Hospice would be appreciated.

James J. Frankiewicz

JEFFERSON - James J. Frankiewicz, 57, of Jefferson, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at his home in Jefferson.

He was born on Aug. 13, 1950, in Oconomowoc, son of Allen and Frances (Lulich) Frankiewicz.

He was employed at Briggs and Stratton Inc. in Jefferson. James and his family owned and operated the People's Meat Market which was located in Jefferson and Milwaukee, where Jim was the CEO of the Jefferson store.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson and the Oconomowoc Sportsman's Club, where he served as the range safety officer and the club's past president.

Jim was one of 10 children and a loving and involved uncle to 10 nieces and nephews, two great-nephews and a great-niece.

He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Frankiewicz.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at noon on Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson with the Rev. Thomas Coyle officiating.

Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass.

Memorials may be given in Jim's name to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Erwin Keepman

OCONOMOWOC - Erwin W. Keepman Jr., 84, of Oconomowoc, was born to eternal life at home Thursday, June 26, 2008.

Erwin was born Jan. 13, 1924, son of Erwin Sr. and Florence (Swartwout) Keepman. After growing up in Watertown and graduating from Watertown High School in 1943, Erwin joined the Army Air Corps. While stationed in England from 1944 to 1945, Erwin flew 35 missions over Europe as a B-17 bombardier. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroic duty over Germany.

Shortly after the war, Erwin married Margaret Lord of Santa Monica, Calif., in Midland, Texas, and spent 63 years together until his death. Having retired from the Army Air Corps as a major, Erwin worked as a sales engineer at Waukesha Engine until he retired after 38 years. Following his retirement, he worked for his son, Charles, at Evans Logistics.

Erwin's wife, Peggy, survives him along with their four sons, Erwin (Susan) Keepman III of Appleton, Richard (Patricia) Keepman of Oconomowoc, Albert Keepman of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Charles (Patricia) Keepman of Oconomowoc. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dr. Jay Keepman; and his grandson, Richard J. Keepman Jr.

A memorial funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 28 S. Church St., Oconomowoc. A reception at the church will follow.

His final rest will be in Glenview Memorial Gardens, Ixonia.

Dora C. Weber

OCONOMOWOC - Dora C. Weber, 93, of Oconomowoc, died on Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Watertown.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Schmidt & Bartelt Notbohm-Kreutzmann Funeral Home in Oconomowoc with the Rev. Erik Gronberg officiating. Burial will be in LaBelle Cemetery.

Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorials are suggested to Dr. Martin Luther Church in Oconomowoc or the Diabetes Association.

The former Dora Dobratz was born Sept. 13, 1914, in Concord, daughter of George and Adina (Zimdars) Dobratz. On Oct. 18, 1935, she married David Weber in Concord.

Dora was a member of Dr. Martin Lutheran Church and its altar guild. She was also a member of the firemen's auxiliary.

Survivors include her children, Sue (Jim) Blanchard of Oconomowoc and Darla (Eddie) Diderrich of Oconomowoc; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who was the former fire chief in Oconomowoc; a daughter, Virginia; three grandchildren, David, Julie and Brian; five brothers; and a sister.

Helmut W. Gust

Helmut W. Gust, 87, of Tully, N.Y., a former resident of Watertown, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Community-General Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y.

Born in Neu Rakit, Pomerania, Helmut came to Watertown in 1951 and had lived in Syracuse since 2005. Helmut was employed 42 years as a tailor in Watertown and Beaver Dam, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Westvale Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Syracuse. He enjoyed gardening, especially vegetable gardening, World War II politics, dogs, reading and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Fitzgerald.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, the former Minna Mueller; daughters, Ursula (Doug) Falle of Tully, Anne (Doug) Fitzgerald of DePere, Ruth (James III) Daily of Kannapolis, N.C., and Christel (Aaron) West of Harrison, Tenn.; a son, Herbert (Vannesa) Gust of Lexington, Ky.; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a niece, Marlies Sippel.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Westvale Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2511 W. Genesee St., Syracuse. Friends may call preceding the service from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse.

Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home in Camillus, N.Y.
