Parade begins at 10 a.m. on Friday



Watertown's annual Fourth of July parade will kick off at 10 a.m. Friday at the intersection of East Main and Second streets.

Due to road construction projects the Fourth of July Parade route and staging area have been changed.

The parade will start on East Main Street at Second Street and progress east to Dewey Avenue, then north to Division Street, east to Boughton Street and then north to Labaree Street at Riverside Park.

The parade unit staging area will be located on South Second Street from East Main Street to Wisconsin Street. The staging area will also include Market Street, Jefferson Street, Dodge Street, Spring Street and Wisconsin Street from First Street to Third Street. The Watertown Unified School District Office parking lot on Dodge Street will also be used to stage parade units.

The parade staging area and route will be posted with no parking signs. Parking will be prohibited along the parade staging area and route beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday. Vehicles parked in posted areas will be towed at the owner's expense.

Following the Fourth of July parade on Friday, the band Classic Memories will play from 1 to 5 p.m. and 45 RPM will perform from 7 to 11 p.m.

American Legion events are open today from 4 to 11 p.m. and the wristband special for rides provided by Chippewa Valley Rides will be from 6 to 10 p.m. The Screamin' Nighthawks are scheduled to play from 7 to 11 p.m.

On Saturday the craft fair and flea market will be held near the bandshell from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Rides will operate from noon to 11 p.m., with wristband specials from noon to 4 p.m. The Variations will play from 7 to 11 p.m. and the fireworks show will start at 9:45 p.m.

The events on Sunday run from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and the rides will operate from noon to 10 p.m. The catch and release fish contest for those 17 years old and younger will be held from noon to 5 p.m. This event, which is co-sponsored by the Rock River Rescue Foundation, will be limited to the Riverside Park area. Cash prizes will be awarded. The Buzz Toyz are scheduled to perform from 6 to 10 p.m.

If it rains Saturday evening the fireworks show will he held on Sunday starting at 9:45 p.m.
