HORICON - Volunteers at the Bethesda Country Store in Horicon are planning a grand re-opening event at the store on Clinton Street, Horicon, Saturday, May 10.
The event begins at 9 a.m. with a rededication ceremony followed by daylong sales until 4 p.m. There will be a prize for the first 50 customers.
According to Marlene Dahnert, store manager, there will be live entertainment throughout the day along with a brat fry, bake sale, Kraemer's famous cheese curds and opportunities to win many valuable prizes.
Early bird sale activities begin on Friday, May 9, with items in the store half-price and items in the warehouse 25 percent off.
There will also be a silent auction on special items, including two new wedding dresses donated by Georgia's Bridal Boutique in Mayville. Bethesda Country store will be open prior to the event to view the dresses
Dahnert said the volunteers also plan to bring out many new items for this event.
The rededication event is planned in conjunction with Horicon's annual bird festival.
This will be the first year in more than five decades that the Bethesda Fair volunteers are not holding the huge rummage event that is traditionally held at the fairgrounds each September. Instead, the Horicon store is now open six days a week and special events like this are planned to encourage more shopping at the site.
Dahnert said the Bethesda Country Store has been blessed with many dedicated volunteers. She said the store has been able to increase its hours because more volunteers have come forward to help.
The store is now open Mondays from noon to 6 p.m.; Tuesday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Proceeds from the rededication will be matched by Thrivent. All proceeds from the store benefit people with developmental disabilities who receive supports from Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services.
