Beal wins 215 title at Flynn Motors invite to lead Trojans

BEAVER DAM - Dodgeland senior Tom Beal won his weight class at 215 pounds to lead the Trojan wrestlers at the Flynn Motors Invitational at Beaver Dam High School Saturday.
Beal (11-2) began the day with a 12-4 major decision over Weston's Kyle Kohler. In the semifinals, Beal scored a 6-2 decision over New Holstein's Matt Lechler. In the championship match, Beal won another 6-2 decision over Valders' Logan Figueroa.
“Tom's ability to make it difficult for his opponents to score came through for him today,” Dodgeland wrestling coach Bob Sweeney said. “He was able to use defensive wrestling techniques to score against his opponents. This, his first invitational championship, should give him more confidence to carry him through the rest of the season.”
Chris Jones (125), Steve Schmidt (145) and Ben Caine (171) each finished fifth for the Trojans, who finished ninth overall. Schmidt is currently 12-3 on the season.
Dodgeland wrestles a Trailways dual meet at Hustisford on Thursday.

Warriors 3-2
at Preble/East invite
GREEN BAY - Lakeside Lutheran's wrestling team posted a 3-2 record in five dual meets at the Green Bay Preble/East Invitational Saturday.
The Warriors were 9-1 over the past two seasons at this tournament but had trouble matching up in losses to Milton (56-15) and Green Bay Preble/East (54-18). The Warriors were winners over Markesan (42-39), Winneconne (47-25) and Lena (54-27).
“We come to this tournament to get tougher, and I think we're going to be a tougher team next week because of what we saw and how hard we worked today,” Lakeside Lutheran wrestling coach Jason Nickels said.
The Warriors had two medalists on the day. Riley Wingate went 5-0 at 103 and senior Taylor Kress went 4-1 at 125 to win a silver. Tyler Zimmerman (152) and heavyweight Jeff Olson each went 3-2. Phil Behl (215) went 3-1.
Lakeside Lutheran wrestles a Capitol Conference dual at Lake Mills on Thursday.
Neu leads Falcons
at Oostburg
OOSTBURG - Hustisford junior Austin Neu finished second in the 171-pound weight class to lead Hustisford's wrestling team at the Oostburg Invitational Saturday.
Neu (6-2) pinned Laconia's pinned Laconia's Ben Fryeler in 21 seconds and Freedom's Tom Schumacher in 2:28 to reach the finals, where he lost 9-2 to Milwaukee Custer's R'Mandel Cameron, a returning state qualifier.
Tony Dachs took sixth at 145 for the Falcons, who finished ninth with 22 points.
Hustisford hosts Dodgeland in a Trailways dual meet on Thursday.

L-Cats 11th
at Marquette
MILWAUKEE - Lake Mills finished 11th at the Tom Burns Memorial Invitational hosted by Milwaukee Marquette Saturday.
Rob Waters (112), Nick Thurston (145) and Jed Oestreich (189) each took fourth to lead the L-Cats. Greg Haskins (119) took sixth.
Lake Mills hosts Lakeside Lutheran in a Capitol Conference dual meet Thursday.
