Reeseville board OKs final payment for pump

REESEVILLE - The Reese-ville Village Board Thursday night approved paying a portion of a final payment to J.C. Miller Electric for the main lift station pump replacement for the wastewater system.

The board approved paying $5,500 now and kept $5,500 of the payment until the project is completed.

There was some concern about liquidated damages for the main lift station rehabilitation project.

Reeseville village Clerk Donald Gibson said, regarding discussion on the treatment plant and treatment of wastewater from Lowell, no word has been received yet from that municipality. Because the Reeseville officials have not heard back from Lowell officials, the Reeseville Village Board will no longer pursue the project. Village officials from both Reeseville and Lowell had been considering joining forces to handle wastewater treatment from both Dodge County municipalities. Initial plans included having the village of Lowell treat its wastewater and pump it along state Highway 60 to County Highway G to the holding lagoon in Reeseville. Lowell would need to install a new forced main to pump the waste to Reeseville.

“The village of Lowell has not gotten back to use one way or another,” Gibson said. “We are not going to pursue it anymore.”

Dean Ziegel informed the board that the new street signs were about 99 percent installed. The village is awaiting the arrival of two more signs, Gibson said.

Appointments, with staggering terms, were approved to the Com-munity Center Board. Joanne Beal and Donald Boettcher were appointed to the board with terms to expire on June 1, 2008. Phyllis Schultz and Barb Buss were appointed with terms to expire on June 1, 2009.

Village Trustee Kenneth Leistico will represent the village on the five-member board.

The village received one bid to replace a window in the municipal building, Gibson said. The issue was tabled until more bids can be received.

Following closed session, the board approved a 4 percent wage increase for Ziegel, who is the village's utilities operator. The one-year contract is retroactive to Sept. 4.
