Woman dies, 3 injured in crash

BEAVER DAM - A 36-year-old Kingston woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon in the Dodge County town of Trenton.
Suzette M. Bruun was operating a 1987 Buick Century south on Buckhorn Road, approaching the intersection with County Highway C, when she failed to stop for a stop sign. The vehicle collided with a vehicle operated by Debra S. Mueller, 49, of Fox Lake.
Bruun, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from her vehicle. She was transported to Beaver Dam Community Hospital where she was pronounced dead by the medical examiner.
Mueller was operating a 2000 Pontiac west on County Highway C, approaching the intersection with Buckhorn Road, when the accident occurred at 4:47 p.m. Monday.
Mueller's vehicle burst into flames, but the driver was able to get out of the vehicle without being burned, according to Dodge County Sheriff Todd Nehls. Mueller was transported to Waupun Memorial Hospital.
Bruun had two passengers, her daughter, Amanda R. Shawley, 12, and Christine J. Steffen, 23, of Ripon. Both Shawley and Steffen were wearing seat belts and both were transported to Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Assisting at the scene were the Fox Lake Fire Department and EMS, Brooks Ambulance, Wisconsin State Patrol, Fox Lake Police, Fox Lake Fire Department and EMS and Beaver Dam EMS. The Dodge County Crash Investigation Team also responded.
Bruun was the county's fourth fatality this year, compared with seven at this time last year.
