JEFFERSON - Four women are in the running for 2006 Jefferson County fairest of the fair. They are Jenny Lindeman of Fort Atkinson, Deidre Schwartz of Watertown, Abbie Jo Warpinski of Watertown and Ashley Weissmann of Jefferson. Reigning fairest of the fair is Becky Folgert, Farmington. The group met with Jefferson County media this morning.

Lindeman said her goals are to pursue a degree in agricultural education or culinary arts. She enjoys her cats, dogs and horses. She plays volleyball and enjoys the outdoors and interior decorating and design.

She said she would like to be fairest of the fair because it would give her the opportunity to be more involved in the community and learn more about Jefferson County from both youth and adult perspectives.

Schwartz said her goals include becoming a registered nurse and working in an emergency room. She enjoys spending time outdoors, especially with her dogs. She enjoys cooking, scrapbooking and reading. She said she wants to be fairest of the fair because she believes she would meet new people and be able to share her past experiences and let others know what the fair is about and how much fun a person can have by becoming involved.

Warpinski wants to graduate from college with an art therapy degree and drama minor from Marian College. She enjoys planning different events on campus, as well as painting, reading and drama. She said wants to be fairest of the fair because she wants to “return to the fair some of what it gave me growing up.”

“It would be a delight to share with others a great American event,” she said.

Weissmann's goals include attending the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha to major in animal science. She enjoys playing the clarinet and piano. She also enjoys raising animals, fishing and reading. She hopes to become fairest of the fair because she wants to meet new people and teach them about agriculture.

“I believe I would be a great asset to the fair's public relations,” she said.

The fairest of the fair will be crowned on the opening day of the fair, July 12 at Jefferson County Fair Park.
