Richard 'Red' and Susan Walter

Richard "Red" and Susan (Miller) Walter, of Watertown, have come to the end of their yearlong 50th wedding anniversary celebration, which began Nov. 19, 2016, and continued to be celebrated and enjoyed for the next 364 days.

Their "anniversary year" included many joyful moments with family and friends and culminated in a recent trip to witness the glorious views of the Canadian Rockies in Banff National Park and the pristine beauty of Glacier National Park in Montana.

The couple was married Nov. 19, 1966, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church of Neosho by the Rev. Robert L. Rutzinske. Susan was attended by maid of honor Linda Miller, her oldest sister, and bridesmaids Marianne Rohde, Laurie Miller and Mary Miller.

Richard was attended by best man James "Jim" Walter, his oldest brother, and groomsmen Vic Miller, Dave Stangler, Bill Krause, Jay Graunke and Dick Rohde. Flower girl was Bonnie Miller and ring bearer was John Walter.

Richard and Susan are both retired. Richard was the assistant plant superintendent of Silgan Containers in Oconomowoc. Susan worked as a registered nurse.

They have two children, Barb (Bill) Kopplin of Watertown and Janet (Jamie) Canino of Auburn, Indiana; three grandchildren, Jessica (Alex) Kranz of Cary, North Carolina, Benjamin Kopplin and Cara "C.J." Canino; and one ball-crazy border collie, Oliver.
